Itโ€™s never too late to start taking care of your bones. With a healty diet, medicines, and weight-bearing exercise you can help prevent bone loss or strengthen already weak bones.

Osteoporosis is a chronic (long-term) disease when bone strength weakens and is susceptible to fracture. It usually affects the hip, wrist or spine lasting several years or be lifelong. While it is common for ages 50 and older, women are more vulnerable.

When you're young, your body makes new bone faster than it breaks down old bone and your bone mass increases. After the early 20s this process slows, and most people reach their peak bone mass by age 30. As people age, bone mass is lost faster than it's created.

People who spend a lot of time sitting have a higher risk of osteoporosis than do those who are more active. Regular weight-bearing exercises, strength training, and staying active are key to building strong bones and maintaining bone density as you age.

Exercise can help you build strong bones and slow bone loss. Exercise will benefit your bones no matter when you start, but you'll gain the most benefits if you start exercising regularly when you're young and continue to exercise throughout your life.

๐ŸฅŠ Did you know? The origins of boxing date back to ancient times, with some of the earliest evidence found in Sumerian artifacts (present-day Iraq) from the 3rd millennium BCE! This intense sport made its Olympic debut in 688 BC, with boxers using soft leather thongs for hand and forearm protection.

Boxing disappeared with the fall of the Roman Empire but resurfaced in 17th-century England. Amateur boxing records began in 1880, and the sport made its debut at the modern Olympic Games in St. Louis in 1904.

Boxing has been contested at every Summer Games since โ€“ except for the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm, as Swedish law banned the sport at the time.

Womenโ€™s boxing was introduced to the Olympics at London 2012. Governed by a special set of rules, Olympic boxing features only amateur competitors. The Games often mark the beginning of illustrious careers for many, including the legendary Muhammad Ali, who competing as Cassius Clay won light heavyweight gold in Rome in 1960.

India will be proudly represented by 6 incredible boxers (2 men and 4 women) at the 2024 Paris Olympics. These athletes are ready to make history and bring home the glory!
