Amyand's hernia to be operated by Dr Sachin Jadhav tomorrow... A very rare case

Amyand's hernia is a rare form of an inguinal hernia (less than 1% of inguinal hernias) which occurs when the appendix is included in the hernial sac and becomes incarcerated. The condition is an eponymous disease named after a French surgeon, Claudius Amyand (1660-1740), who performed the first successful appendectomy in 1735.

Dräger

After witnessing a man be rescued from the Thames, Johann Heinrich Dräger had the thought for a revolutionary emergency respirator. The Pulmotor, which gets its name from the Latin words for lung (pulmo) and move (motor), combines the ability to regulate under pressure with a control system that replicates the process of a lung inhaling and exhaling. In 1908, the Pulmotor went into production selling 12,000 devices in the first 15 years!

Cholecystitis

Cholecystitis

Cholecystitis is inflammation of the gallbladder. Symptoms include right upper abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and occasionally fever. Often gallbladder attacks (biliary colic) precede acute cholecystitis. The pain lasts longer in cholecystitis than in a typical gallbladder attack. Without appropriate treatment, recurrent episodes of cholecystitis are common. Complications of acute cholecystitis include gallstone pancreatitis, common bile duct stones, or inflammation of the common bile duct.

Umbilical hernia

Umbilical hernia

An umbilical hernia is a health condition where the abdominal wall behind the navel is damaged. It may cause the navel to bulge outwards—the bulge consisting of abdominal fat from the greater omentum or occasionally parts of the small intestine. The bulge can often be pressed back through the hole in the abdominal wall, and may "pop out" when coughing or otherwise acting to increase intra-abdominal pressure. Treatment is surgical, and surgery may be performed for both cosmetic as well as health-related reasons.

History of male circumcision

History of male circumcision

The oldest documentary evidence of male circumcision comes from ancient Egypt. Circumcision was common, although not universal, among ancient Semitic peoples. In the aftermath of the conquests of Alexander the Great, however, Greek dislike of circumcision (they regarded a man as truly "naked" only if his prepuce was retracted) led to a decline in its incidence among many peoples that had previously practiced it.

Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty or "tummy tuck" is a cosmetic surgery procedure used to make the abdomen thinner and more firm.
