Originally introduced to the fitness world as a modified version of hatha yoga for individuals with health implications and the elderly, chair yoga has gained many new fans.

Improving flexibility, relieving cramps and stiffness, and creating a happy mental state are a few benefits that chair yoga can provide for our bodies.

In the same way that the body moves through flows of motion and increased flexibility during cycles of traditional yoga, chair yoga implements this practice as well. According to Yogapedia, almost any traditional yoga pose or move can be replicated and altered to accommodate chair yoga. Ganesha Chaturthi and Yoga

Ganesha Chaturthi marks the birthday of Ganesha, the Elephant-headed god. The ten-day festival starts on the fourth day of the dark fortnight in the Hindu lunisolar month of Bhadra – around September. People all over India joyously celebrate the occasion. Clay statues of Ganesha are kept in homes and in public areas. People hold prayers, chants and fasts to honor the elephant deity.

Ganesha and Yoga

There is a hidden meaning behind Lord Ganesha. Ganesha is a very potent symbol of yoga and ta**ra. His very name is made from two Sanskrit words: gana–administrator and isha –Supreme. He is “the supreme administrator.”
In yoga, the word gana has a distinctive meaning. It refers to the sense organs. From the yogic perspective, Ganesha is the supreme administrator of the senses. All of our input is based on our five senses and how we react to this input dictates the quality and direction of our lives. Ganesha, being the supreme administrator of the senses is beyond the senses and therefore beyond the mind. Ganesha is a symbol for pure universal intelligence.
The intention of revering Ganesha is to break our limitations and create an inner transformation resulting in the manifestation of this pure intelligence.
Ganesha is famously known as the giver of intelligence, the remover of obstacles and the recorder of universal events. It is Lord Ganesha who writes all happenings in the Akashic records.

Ganesha Chaturthi and Yoga

Chaturthi means “the fourth.” In the Hindu calendar system, it refers to the fourth day, but in Yoga it refers to the fourth state of consciousness, known as super-consciousness or Samadhi. Samadhi can only be reached with the help and blessing of pure intelligence, Ganesha. Intelligence is not cunningness or astuteness. Intelligence is about flexibility and harmony. We must become mentally flexible, just like Ganesha’s trunk which is like a boneless limb. Our rigidness and all of our identifications are created by our ego, mental flexibility is the first sign of intelligence. A truly intelligent person is able to dance around all of life’s obstacles just like Ganesha.

Yoga can transform your body - "Yoga has the potential to increase fat loss, develop muscle tone, and build flexibility, leading to a more lean-looking physique".

If flexibility and balance are what you’re after, even the gentlest forms of yoga will do the trick. Many types also help you build muscle strength and endurance. If you want to work on your cardio fitness, yoga can do that, too, as long as you opt for a more rigorous form.

Hatha, Integral, and Iyengar yoga. Choose one of these gentle forms if you want to target flexibility, balance, strength, and relaxation. In a recent study, people who did Hatha yoga for 8 weeks had better balance, improved flexibility, a boost in endurance, and an upsurge in strength.
Hatha yoga is filled with poses that strengthen your chest, abs, and core. "Many poses like the Plank and Chaturanga, build strength throughout your upper body." And the Warrior III and Half Moon poses are great for improving your flexibility and balance. "Often someone who practices yoga regularly starts to make more optimal choices when it comes to being healthy."
