🔬 May is Bladder Cancer Awareness Month! 🚻
I'm Dr. Ashwin Tamankar, uro-oncologist & robotic surgeon, here to shed light on this often-overlooked disease.
🩸 Blood in urine could be a sign — don’t ignore it.

✅ Diagnosis starts with:
📍 Sonography & CT scan
📍 Urine cytology
📍 Cystoscopy (direct visualization)
📍 TURBT – a key step in diagnosis & treatment

Understanding the grade, type, and depth of the tumor is crucial in guiding treatment.

🎗 Early detection saves lives. Let’s raise awareness and take action.

Humbled to mention that we completed 201 robotic cases at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Pune in the last 18 months.

It's a team work in a purest sense. The core team consists of Urology Team (all the consultants), the anaesthetist, residents, fellows, OT technicians, dedicated nurses, radiologist, pathologists, nuclear medicine team, medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, nephrologists, physiotherapist and support staff from our OPD desk which makes the journey of the patient smooth from admission to the uneventful recovery.

Key for the recovery lies at dedicated approach at every step of the journey of the patient and not just the surgery.

The best part is that we audit our data regularly and strive to improve for the better patient care and outcomes.

I would like to appreciate the trust of our patients which they repose in us when they undergo therapy with us.

Multidisciplinary team work is the way forward and we are the strong believers of team work !

March is Kidney Awareness Month
🚭 Did you know smoking doubles your risk of kidney disease?
Dr. Ashwin Tamhankar, Uro-Oncology & Robotic Surgeon, sheds light on how to***co harms your kidneys—silently but severely.
Protect your kidneys. Quit smoking today.

25/03/2025

March is , and today, we’re shedding light on kidney cancer, its risk factors, and the importance of early detection. 🚨

The primary causes include smoking, chemical exposure, high blood pressure, and obesity. But remember, just because you don’t have these risk factors doesn’t mean you're immune. Health check-ups become crucial, especially after the age of 30-35. Regular sonographs can help detect kidney cancer early, even in its asymptomatic stages. Early symptoms include flank pain, blood in urine, and unusual blood pressure changes – don’t ignore them! 🚨

Timely diagnosis is key. In some cases, a CT scan is enough to detect tumors, and biopsies are rarely needed. Early intervention can make all the difference.

Stay aware, stay proactive. Your health matters. 💪

Let’s spread awareness, encourage screenings, and support those who fight this fight every day.
