Some cases are special - a 7 yr post op of a smile rehab case done for a 21 yr old. This case is a perfect eg of when NOT to do veneers... Biomimetic Posterior Partial Restos done in this visit. Rest of the description in the slides. Candid shot of patient's face shared with permission. 😍

P.S. - patient did not want ortho t/t as she was a case of ortho failure and that ship has sailed for her.

Some cases really surprise you. I started this case with all the good intentions of doing selective caries removal, followed by a partial bonded resto. The patient had no symptoms of irreversible pulpitis, neither clinically nor radiographically. BUT, the tooth had plans of its own!
Hint - the central stop zone is NOT 5mm from the occlusal in all cases.

Our workshop yesterday on 'Biomimetic Partial Bonded Restorations' was a grand success. We had participants from Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, engaging in interesting clinical discussions, making it a very enjoyable Sunday. We have an upcoming workshop on FMR on 27th July 2025. My approach to treatment plans is often patient centric and out of the box. This means, less of ideal treatment plans and more of customized ones as one shoe doesn't fit all. And that inevitably means, modifying quite a few rules and utilizing unconventional approaches. This has not always gone down well. I've been bullied for this very reason, on social media in the past. But I didn't give up and continued sticking to my convictions. It was not easy. Because when there are so many voices telling you "you're wrong", it's almost impossible to listen to that one tiny voice within you saying, "you're right".

At the same time, there were a few who believed and trusted in my abilities and gave me opportunities others often wouldn't, and for that I have immense gratitude.

Then came the Famdent Excellence In Dentistry Award 2025 - Winner of Heroic Dentistry. A powerful reminder: sometimes, the path less travelled leads to the most meaningful victories. Being a 'black sheep' isn't always a bad thing.

P.S. - Glad to share the stage with two very powerful women - Dr. Vaishali Das and Maala Malik Mam.

My latest scientific article, "Partial Rehabs - A Contemporary Approach to Minimally Invasive Dentistry" outlines a simplified and detailed approach, with a case based analysis, intended to highlight those cases which do not require a full mouth rehab, but rather a partial one. Partial Rehabs are minimally invasive, have greater patient acceptance and show excellent results, if done right. Many thanks to Futuredent Publications.
