**Story by Dr. Akshay Ankush Suryawanshi**
On the early morning of April 11, 2025, around 4:00 AM, Dr. Akshay Ankush Suryawanshi received an emergency call. A 72-year-old female patient, Mrs. Anusaya Bhalerao, had suffered a fall at home, resulting in excruciating pain and immobility. Upon rushing to the patient's residence, Dr. Akshay conducted an initial examination and suspected a severe fracture in the left femur.
An X-ray was promptly arranged, which confirmed a two-piece fracture in the left femur bone. Dr. Akshay immediately recommended hospital treatment; however, the family’s financial condition was extremely poor. The patient’s son was unemployed, and the family was under immense financial stress.
Moved by the situation, Dr. Akshay, in his capacity as Secretary of **Akshayanand Charitable Trust**, took swift action. He contacted renowned orthopedic surgeon **Dr. Arun Bhaviskar**, who graciously agreed to perform the surgery at **AR Patil Hospital** at a minimal, non-profit cost.
The Akshayanand Charitable Trust extended full support by covering post-operative care and providing necessary surgical materials. Dr. Ankush Suryawanshi, Chairman of the Trust, also personally assured the family of ongoing support during the patient’s recovery.
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Dr. Arun Bhaviskar, AR Patil Hospital, and the Akshayanand Charitable Trust, the surgery was successful. Mrs. Anusaya Bhalerao is now stable and receiving dedicated home-based post-operative care through the Trust’s services.
This story stands as a testament to how timely intervention, empathy, and collective action can restore hope and dignity to those in need.
