WHY PEOPLE ARE NOT WHAT THEY SEEM?

Old friends meet up after many years. Time flies quickly.
“I’m hungry, let’s order something” says Sagittarius, the initiator.
“Okay, we will order Pizzas” declares Leo, the decision maker.
“Which Pizza should we order?” The impetuous Aries has dialled the Pizza shop.
“Wow, Pizza!”, exults the pleasure-loving Ta**us.
“There are three Pizza shops around”. The well-informed Gemini announced.
“Yummy Pizza is the best one”, declared the knowledgeable Scorpio.
“Make sure there is enough for everyone”, cautions the nurturing and caring Cancerian.
“OMG! Pizza! junk food! - we need to look after health”, whines the Virgo worrier.
“It is okay to have Pizza occasionally”, opines the balanced Libra.
“Hmm… cool” elicits the reticent Capricorn.
“Anything is okay for me”, beams the friendly Aquarian.
“But I don’t feel like having a Pizza”, moans the moody Piscean.
The Ascendant, the Sun sign and the Moon sign are three drivers in life.
The Ascendant is the face you put up to the world, the placement of the Sun indicates your ambition and the Moon sign is your real inner self. It is who you are with yourself and your close and trusted ones.
Ascendant, also called the rising sign indicates your nature. It is your projected behaviour. It is neither learned nor practised. It comes naturally. How you react to your surroundings is governed by the sign on your Ascendant. It also influences your physical appearance.
The zodiac sign where the Moon is placed during birth is called your Moon Sign. Moon governs feelings and emotions. Emotions run deep and they are seldom expressed spontaneously.
At home, with oneself at night,
If the Sagittarius ascendant has a Virgo Moon sign, she will regret the decision to have junk food. Virgos overthink and overanalyse..almost everything.
The moody Piscean ascendant with an Aquarius moon will be sorry to have been a wet blanket. Aquarians at heart are affable and don’t like to nitpick.
The caring Cancerian ascendant with a Capricorn Moon will wonder why they ordered so much – what a waste of money (Capricorns are frugal).
Foody Taurean ascendant with a Piscean moon will wonder if she should feel guilty for having consumed junk food. Taureans are prone to being overweight, and those with a Piscean moon are eternally in a state of indecision.
So do we say people are deceptive? No! They are made that way. Come to know a person closely and very often she is different than what you thought she was… so is she a hypocrite? Definitely not.
Call it the wonder of Nature or a shield provided for our protection as exposing our true self makes us vulnerable to hurt and manipulation.
In rare cases (statistical probability 8%) Moon is placed in the Ascendant which means the Moon sign and Ascendant sign is the same, so there won’t be a difference between the projected and actual self.
So next time you scratch the surface (rub a person the wrong way) of a toughie (Leo) and find out that he is softie (a Piscean) be happy. But if reverse happens, God help you!
Popular Astrology classifies whole of humanity into twelve categories, but that’s a myth.
People are complex and difficult to fathom, but find out their three signs and chances are, you will begin to understand the person.
In addition to the three signs, the other planets (10 of them) also cast their influence in our life, in our emotions, in our nature, in every way. Which is what makes each person unique, as planetary positions seldom replicate.
So instead of fretting, celebrate the variety, enjoy the uniqueness of each individual, vive la difference.

SUN SIGN AND MOON SIGN
Tomorrow as you read the Sunday newspaper, you will see a column “Forecast for the week”; most publications carry this column and in my experience, believers and non-believers read this… the believers out of faith and non-believers out of “just curiosity”!!
Your birthday is September 6, 1985, so you look for what’s in store for you under the heading, “Virgo”. But your mom says that you are a “Vrishabh” Rashi. So should you see “Ta**us” (Ta**us in English, is Vrishabh in Hindi/Marathi, possibly Gujarathi and other languages..) or “Virgo” in the newspaper?
Its not so complex. The zodiac sign where the Sun is placed at your birth is called your “Sun Sign” in Western Astrology and the zodiac sign where the “Moon” is placed at your birth is called “Rashi” in the Indian context. On September 6, 1985, the Sun was placed in the zodiac sign of Virgo and Moon was placed in the zodiac sign of Ta**us. So your Rashi is “Vrishabh”. Western Astrologers consider the Sun as the starting point and make predictions, while Vedic Astrologers consider the Moon as a driver of a horoscope and tell your future. So, you read the column under “Virgo” when the “what your stars foretell” is a column which lists Zodiac signs as per the date. And you read the column under “Vraishabh” in regional publications where predictions are termed “Rashi Bhavishya”.
As a practising Astrologer people ask me so.. “which one works?”
My answer is, “whichever works for you is good”. People have interest in knowing about their past birth and future of this lifetime. There are different methods of seeking: Numerology (look for posts on this in future on this page), Tarrot, Face-reading, Palmistry, Aura-interpretation, Parrot(?), Nadi shastra, Chinese Astrology, Coffee-cup reading, Nandi-bail (bullock) –( I know people who will swear that the prediction of an event by a Nandi-bail has come true, especially about marriage of young girls, boys who pass their exams after several attempts), reading rice-patterns after sprinkling rice grains randomly on the floor, Regression/Hypnosis, clairvoyance. I have attempted to understand some of these systems, but in my opinion, many of them require a higher-than-normal level of intuition. I prefer Astrology, as the system provides a lot of data which helps to analyse nature, events, relationships, finances, health and gives a good idea of turns your life will take. I hesitate to use the word prediction, because prediction cannot be based only on Astrology – there are other factors..
Indian Astrology also has different streams: Parashari system, KP or Krishnamurthy System, Lal-Kitab, etc.

SUN and Ambition - 1
Most systems of Astrology consider the Sun as the most important planet. Its placement in a horoscope, determines Ambition. Just as Sun is the giver of life, power, light and energy on earth, the Sun bestows these bounties to each of us. How much of these gifts we are capable of receiving depends upon our time of birth. From times immemorial, humans in cultures all over the world have known that life depends upon the Sun and have worshipped the Sun as a deity. A well-placed Sun gives good health, direction and drive. Sun as a planet is unique as it does not vary in size, nor movement. It transits one degree a day, and it does not go retrograde (backward) like other planets. In Vedic Astrology, all planets have a presiding deity, except the Sun. Propitiation of the Sun in its original form is a recommended remedy for improvement in health, attaining focus and achievement of ambition.

Moon and Moods - I
The mystic beauty of the Moon has inspired artists and poets, since time immemorial. The Moon holds a very special place in Vedic Astrology. The Moon rules over our mind as also our emotions and consequently our moods. Moon is the only planet which waxes and wanes i.e. changes its size, hence our moods also change accordingly. Not only the size, but the placement of the moon relative to it’s position in our individual horoscope also affects our frame of mind. Therefore, it is not surprising that on some days, we are on top of the world for no apparent reason and on some days we feel low without a cause!
On a New Moon Night (Amavasya), the Moon is invisible, but it is overwhelmed by the Sun and hence not visible. Restlessness, fluctuations in moods, spike in blood pressure, and other symptoms of underlying chronic conditions may be experienced on such days. So on this day, take special care….try to avoid physical stress, arguments, adventures, emotionally tiring situations.
Next New Moon: June 23rd

UNDERSTANDING:
Although Astrology is popular for predictions, it is a powerful system to understand human beings. Understanding is the key to success. A politician understands his voters, a businessman understands his customers and their needs, a sportsperson understands the rules and techniques of his game, a filmmaker understands the audience and his craft, an engineer understands the design and functioning of machines, an architect understands materials and structures, a singer understands music, a photographer understands composition, camera, colours and the significance of lighting, a doctor understands human physiology and its functioning… but unfortunately, we don’t understand ourselves and people around us. Human mind is perhaps the most complex system and except psychology there have been very few endeavours in this direction. Understanding ourselves and people around us improves the quality of life and reduces stress.
Astrology is a medium which provides useful insights into individual human nature including, behaviour, emotions, ambition, fears. Astrology can be a guide to relationships, handling finances, planning a career, purchase of property.

Tithis (phases of the moon), do not follow our calendar dates, nor are they in sync with sunrise and sunset. This year Akshay Tritiya set in at 10.30 am on April 28, 2017 and will end at 06.56 am on April 29, 2017.

Akṣaya tṛtiyā, is the third day of the bright (shukla paksha) fortnight of the lunar month of vaiśākha. Apart from being celebrated as Paraśurāma jayantī, meaning birthday of the ancient sage Parshurama, Akṣaya tṛtiyā, is perhaps the most auspicious day for “giving”. Akshay Tritiya is a day for giving “dana” or engaging in philanthropic activities. It is believed that the donations given on this day comes back to the donor in an un-ending (akṣaya) form, therefore the day is known in Sanskrit as akṣaya tṛtiyā.

Today, builders are exhorting people to invest in property, jewellers are offering attractive discounts, automobile and white-good companies are telling you to buy their products.

But, instead of acquiring, give and experience the abundance.
