Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the study, diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders. It includes not only the management of mental health disorders but also promotion of positive mental health.
For years mental health was overlooked by most people including medical professionals. But due to rapid change in lifestyles and the resultant stress, mental health has become vital, now, more than ever. The rising numbers of stress-related physical illnesses is proof of this. It is said, “Mens sana in Corpore sano” meaning “a healthy mind in a healthy body”. The power of a positive and healthy mind and its contribution to an individual’s overall health cannot be ignored. In fact, the mind and the body are closely interconnected. The need of the hour, therefore, is to give mental health equal if not greater importance, as we do our physical health. Mental health and psychiatric services are hence becoming more and more vital and efficient.
Manovikas is our attempt to provide quality psychiatric services to the community. We mainly provide out-patient based services of Neuropsychiatry, Sexology and Child Guidance. This essentially includes the entire spectrum of mental health issues, their diagnosis and management. It also includes various psychological testing services as well as psychotherapy, counselling, etc.
The idea of a Neuropsychiatric, Sexology & Child Guidance Clinic, managed by a team of mental health professionals, originated in 2012 when we started our first website. At the time, we provided out-patient services through attachments to various multi-speciality hospitals.
