*A Wake-Up Call for the Optometry Community*
Dear Doctor Optometry and members of DOA,
Greetings from the DOA,
It's my pleasure to share with you an audio conversation between DOA President and eminent Optometrist regarding current situation of optometry profession and Optometrist in India
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1J--MHJx_VaYfInwIcXaM3Ghx5RoUJQn2/view?usp=drivesdk
1.
DOA President: "The current state of the optometry profession in India is alarming. The lack of an Optometry Profession Council has led to unchecked proliferation of quackery, compromising the quality of eye care services and undermining the credibility of qualified optometrists."
2. Eminent Optometrist: "It's heartbreaking to see our profession being ruined by unqualified practitioners. The absence of a regulatory body has emboldened these quackers, making it difficult for us to establish our identity as primary eye care professionals."
3. DOA President: "The time is now! We need to take collective action to safeguard our profession. The PIL filed in the Supreme Court is a step in the right direction, but we need to keep the momentum going."
4. Eminent Optometrist: "I couldn't agree more. We need an Optometry Profession Council to regulate education, practice, and standards. It's the only way to restore the dignity and respect our profession deserves."
5. DOA President: "Let's join hands to make this happen. We owe it to ourselves, our patients, and the future of optometry in India."
6 *The Need of the Hour:*
- Unite the optometry community
- Support the PIL and advocate for an Optometry Profession Council
- Raise awareness about the importance of qualified optometrists
- Take collective action to protect the profession and patients
You are requested to listen to the conversation between the DOA President and the eminent Optometrist carefully and understand the truths of optometry profession status in India after the implementation of the National Commission for Allied and healthcare professions Act 2021.
Support and financial contribution to DOA Optometry profession council through PIL in the supreme court of India

Dr Amit Singh,
Secretary General
