Sanjivini Society for Mental Health

Sanjivini Society for Mental Health Sanjivini provides free and confidential counselling to anyone experiencing emotional distress, as well as rehabilitation services for serious mental illness.

Sanjivini is a registered non-profit voluntary organization that has been addressing the mental health needs of the community since 1976. We provide free and confidential counseling to anyone above the age of 18 who is experiencing emotional distress, as well as rehabilitation services for individuals dealing with severe mental illness’ such as schizophrenia. Due to the growing needs of counseling and mental health facilities in recent times, Sanjivini tries to provide access to mental health support for individuals who may not be able to afford it otherwise. Crisis Intervention: Sanjivini runs two Crisis Intervention Units where free counselling is offered to clients in person, or over the phone. A trained volunteer guides them through their emotional and psychological difficulties, providing them with the support they need to overcome their distress. All services are completely confidential, and a combination of awareness and sensitivity creates a safe space for clients to discuss issues ranging from depression and su***de to substance use and other mental traumas. Rehabilitation Centre: The Rehabilitation Centre provides services for those individuals who have undergone psychosis of various kinds, and also provides support and education to their families. In conjunction with an in-house psychiatrist, the counselors aim at facilitating social skills of the clients, so that they can cope with the world outside in a healthy manner. Our Rehabilitation Centre also provides daycare facilities, meeting the need to fill the space between home care and psychiatric treatment. Referral Service: Over the years, Sanjivini has built a valuable network of agencies and institutions who offer specialized help in all aspects of mental health. This enables us to help our clients with legal, medical, psychiatric, and specialized help. Community Outreach Program: Sanjivini has worked dedicatedly in building acceptance in society towards counseling and psychological help, through various aids of literature, slide shows, plays, and workshops. We reach out to dispel the ignorance and myths that surround mental health. Basic Counselling Skills Workshop: In 2003, Sanjivini began a 3 week workshop consisting of modules facilitating self-growth through an education in Basic Counselling Skills. Immensely popular, this Workshop enriches its participants by making them more aware of the qualities that enable a better human connect – be it in teaching, team leading, parenting, or other aspects of work and living. In recognition for its services to society and its dedication towards mental well-being, Sanjivini Society for Mental Health was awarded the Sanskriti Award in 1982, and the Delhi Government Award in 1988.

Sanjivini, in collaboration with Mahavir International Delhi (MID) under the "Asha Kiran" initiative, successfully conducted two specialized workshops aimed at equipping ASHA and Anganwadi workers with essential knowledge and tools to address critical issues in their communities.
The first workshop on Domestic Abuse was conducted on 26th February 2025 at Gyan Kunj Foundation, Bawana, New Delhi, led by Sanjivini Volunteers Parul P. and Suminder. The second workshop, focusing on Alcoholism & Substance Abuse, took place on 20th March 2025 at the same location, facilitated by Sanjivini Volunteers Neelam and Veena A.
