Announcement: 26, June, 2012:
As an effect of a court case IDRS had to withhold all publications and activities from 15th May, 2012 to this day. However as the indictment is still pending, it is with deep regret that we have to inform that both J-RAT 2012 and Cusp: The all India Dental Quiz have been postponed till any furthur court orders. Please also note that the IDRS Journal (both print and digital) will not be published until a written clearance is obtained. Subscriptions of almost every subscriber have been/ are being remitted. We deeply regret the inconvinience and hope to get back as soon as we can.

J-RAT 2012-2013:

The Indian Dental Research Society in a bid to promote research and higher level studies in dentistry in India organises the Joint Research Aptitude Test for undergraduate and postgraduate students every year. It is basically a multi-paper test designed to guage the knowledge and skills of students and help them know whether they quantify as a researcher or not. The MCQ and Essay paper is designed specially by a team of experts to test a students intellectual ability to question science and bring out ideas that can change lives globally.
25 Students will be selected every year (from UG and PG) and will be awarded scholarship worth Rs.50,000. Also the selected students will get to work in their desired field of interest in Laboratories in India, Russia, Germany, France, UK, US and Korea with our international research guides as Research fellows' and Assistants for 2 months.

The pattern for the exam is as follows (same for UG & PG Candidates):

The exam will be conducted in two phases:

PHASE I: Essay: The first phase of the exam will be Essay submission. A suitable research topic/idea should be selected by the candidate and an essay (consisting of not less than 600 words) should be prepared and submitted to IDRS latest by 15th May, 2012. Late entries would not be entertained. The essays' will be rewarded marks out of 100 on the basis of originality, authenticity, creativity, scientific value and the amount of innovation the student has put in the given idea. A minimum of 37% (i.e. 37 marks) is necessary to pass the to the second phase of the exam. The marks of PHASE I will be included in the final result.

PHASE II: MCQ Paper & Aptitude Test: This test consist of 2 parts:

* The first paper will be MCQ based having 25 questions. Each question will be followed by 5 choices. The student must pick; what seems to him/her the most appropriate choice. Marks will be alloted in the range of 0-4 based on the appropriateness of the answer.

* The second paper will be a scientific apitude test consisting of 50 questions. This paper does not carry any marks as it is just meant to capture the questioning and reasoning ability of the student. However attemting all 50 questions is mandatory for the students. Any student failing to do so would get disqualified from the process.

Details on PHASE II of the exam will be outed once the results of PHASE I are declared.
