selection Rules ho jao sochna 2023
Let us keep it simple on how to select stream as it is for life.
Basic rules:
1. Never compromise on your dream whatever it may be; you will live with the stream for your entire life despite the number of attempts as there is no counting for dream.
2. Don't be afraid of taking risks for next year; it is better to prepare cooly rather than joining a seat; getting frustrated and then quitting it
3. Choose STREAM first and then college.
4. If you have doubt on stream do visit the nearby college and stay with resident for 7 days * 24 hours and see what he or she does
5. Gender selection of streams is no more relevant these days.
6. Language is an important consideration.
7. Whichever college you finalise do visit the college and talk to residents; you would yourself get to decide
8. Match your personality to a subject; like your hate kids don’t take paeds; you are soft person who loves sleep don’t take OBGY
9. Match your physical health status to a subject; you are zero figure don’t take ortho
10. Focus on the big 7 first: Radio, Skin, Ortho, Med, Surg, OBGY, Paeds
11. Next you can look for: Anaesthesia, Optha
12. Only if you have special interest then look into Pysch
13. Rest subjects a big no: this is because you yourself know that they are not the first choice (remember if a subject is not picked up in top 500 ranks means it is not that worth); don’t look at outliers like PSM is not equal to WHO etc...
Stream specific:
1. Life with best work life balance: Radio and Skin
2. Life with best recognition, money: Ortho, OBGY, Paeds, Medicine
These are purely personal views gained from experience of being resident from AIIMS Delhi, Senior Resident from PGI Chandigarh, 11 years of experience interacting with students (who are now family), own family.
As a PSM person I can tell you the best as health communication advocacy is our skill
