Precautions to take before going for a CT scan
• Doctor might as the patient to eat nothing for a few hours before coming for the scan. Sometimes the doctor might ask the patient not to drink anything too.
• If a woman suspects that she may be pregnant; she needs to inform the doctor beforehand
• The patient will be asked to change into a gown provided by the centre
• Some patients may be administered a contrast dye or substance, which might need to be swallowed or injected

CT scan is a medical imaging technique that uses tomography. Tomography generates a 2-D image of a section or slice through a 3-D object, called a tomogram.
The machine, called as CT scanner generates a 3-D image of the insides of a body using digital imaging. The CT scanner takes a number of pictures of the same area from different angles and then places them together to form a 3-D image.
