This Holi, every elder was part of the celebration — every hand touched colour, every face wore a smile and every heart felt the joy of the festival. From crafting their own Pichkaaris to creating art together, from swaying to old Bollywood Holi songs to dancing with the whole family — every moment was designed so that everyone belonged.

Because at A.S.H.A., inclusion is not just a value. It is the way we celebrate, the way we care and the way we live.

Every colour. Every smile. Every elder. Together.

This International Women's Day, we celebrate the many ways women lead at Hope Ek Asha. From the patience and skill of caregivers, to the calm assurance of clinical care, the empathy of counselling, the joy created through engagement, and the leadership that guides and strengthens our work every day—each role reflects care in action. Inspired by a vision that places dignity, compassion, and understanding at the heart of dementia care, these women shape an environment where every individual is supported with respect and humanity. Through their dedication and strength, they remind us that leadership in care is often quiet, yet profoundly powerful. On this Women’s Day, we dedicate our gratitude and warm wishes to all women who lead with care.

For over 25 years, the work of Dr. Sushma Chawla has been driven by a clear vision — to ensure that persons living with Dementia are treated with compassion, dignity and understanding.

An alumnus of Maulana Azad Medical College, Dr. Chawla founded Hope Ek A.S.H.A. in 2001 after navigating the difficult journey of caring for her mother single-handedly at a time when awareness and structured support for Dementia care in India were almost nonexistent. What began as a deeply personal experience evolved into a mission to bring awareness, provide support and guidance to families facing similar challenges.

Over the years, her commitment has helped create a reliable support system for persons living with Dementia and their family caregivers. In 2019 with the support of IFCI Social Foundation, The Hans Foundation and Rural India Supporting Trust, Hope Ek ASHA launched A.S.H.A ( Affectionate Secured Home for Alzheimer’s) first-of-its-kind dedicated facility offering specialised Day Care and Residential Care services for persons suffering with Dementia

Her work continues to be anchored in a simple but powerful belief — that every person living with Dementia deserves empathy, respect and a life lived with dignity.

She leads with PURPOSE
She leads with VISION

She Leads with Care.

At Hope Ek A.S.H.A., care is not just a sentiment — it is a system, a structure and a promise honoured every single day. Behind that promise is someone who ensures every piece works in harmony.

That someone is our COO, Jasmine Sinha.

From guiding the organisation’s daily operations to aligning teams and resources, she keeps A.S.H.A. moving forward with clarity and purpose. She steers the planning and delivery of our caregiver training programmes, dementia awareness workshops and community outreach initiatives — ensuring that every effort touching a life is thoughtful, consistent and impactful.

Because care at A.S.H.A. extends far beyond the facility walls. It reaches families through knowledge, communities through awareness and caregivers through support. Her steady leadership and compassionate approach help translate intent into meaningful action.

At A.S.H.A., exceptional care is built on thoughtful leadership — and that is exactly what she brings.

She leads with direction.
She leads with strategy.
And above all, she leads with compassion.

She Leads with Care.

At Hope Ek A.S.H.A., great care is not just delivered — it is guided, nurtured and held together with heart. And at the centre of that is our Care Director, Ms. Rita Sehgal.

With a warmth that puts everyone at ease and a kindness that everyone around her deeply feels, she oversees every aspect of care at A.S.H.A. — ensuring every protocol is in place, every team member is supported and every resident receives the highest standard of care, every single day.

But what truly sets her apart is the way she shows up for everyone — not just our residents, but their families too. Through her Share & Care meets, she creates a safe and open space where family caregivers can express their concerns, find guidance and feel truly supported in their journey of caring for their loved ones with Dementia.

She is the anchor the team looks up to. The calm presence that makes everyone feel guided and safe. The inspiration that quietly makes everything better.

Because at A.S.H.A., structure and consistency are not just systems — they are an expression of love.

She leads with structure.
She leads with consistency.

She Leads with Care.

At Hope Ek A.S.H.A., healing goes beyond the physical — and our in-house Counselling Psychologist makes sure of that every single day.

Tending to the emotional and mental well-being of both our residents and their caregivers, she holds one of the most meaningful roles at A.S.H.A. Through individual therapy sessions, she listens deeply, supports gently and creates a safe space where every person feels truly heard and cared for.

Through her caregiver workshops, she works with great dedication to reduce burnout, restore strength and remind every caregiver that their well-being is just as important as the person they care for.

Because at A.S.H.A., care is not complete without emotional well-being.

She leads with listening.
She leads with empathy.

She Leads with Care.

Our Activity Coordinators show up every day with something truly special — a joy that is infectious, a creativity that knows no limits, and a warmth so genuine it fills every room they walk into.

They take the time to truly know each resident — their personality, their preferences, and what makes their face light up. From spiritual activities that bring inner peace, to gentle physical movement, cognitive exercises that engage the mind, and social gatherings that make every elder feel celebrated — every activity is designed with love and intention.

Mrs. Ritu Arora and Mrs. Rubina Hasan pours their heart into every session they lead. And it shows — in every laugh shared, every moment of connection, and every resident who feels joyful, engaged and truly at home.

They lead with joy.
They lead with engagement.

This World Hearing Day, there is something everyone needs to know.

Hearing health and brain health are deeply connected.

When hearing loss goes unaddressed, the brain gradually works harder to process sound. Over time, this quietly affects memory, thinking and clarity. Research today confirms that untreated hearing loss is the single largest modifiable risk factor for Dementia.

The encouraging part is that it is something we can all take care of — with simple, timely steps as mentioned on the post itself.

Small steps today can make a meaningful difference tomorrow.

Because at A.S.H.A., we have always believed — the more we know, the better we can care. For ourselves and for those we love.

She Leads with Care.

Our Asha Angels show up every day with something truly special — patience that never runs out, skills that go beyond training, and a compassion so deep it feels like home.

They answer every question with the same gentle smile. They know each resident's needs before they are even expressed. And on the hard days, they simply sit beside them — because sometimes, presence is the greatest form of care.

Specially trained in Dementia care, our Asha Angels pour their heart into every moment they spend with our elders. And it shows — in every smile, every moment of calm, and every resident who feels safe, seen and loved.

They lead with patience.
They lead with skill.

Many dementia cases remain undiagnosed especially in the early stages, when intervention can make the greatest difference.

According to Alzheimer’s Disease International, delayed diagnosis continues to be a significant global challenge in dementia care.

Early detection is not merely a medical milestone — it is a planning tool.
It enables families to:

• Seek timely clinical evaluation
• Put legal and financial plans in place
• Access structured cognitive and psychosocial support
• Improve overall quality of life

Too often, early symptoms are normalised as “just ageing.” They should not be ignored.

If you or someone you know is experiencing persistent cognitive changes, consider seeking professional assessment.

Early clarity leads to better care decisions.

Choosing specialised dementia care is never an easy decision.
It comes with reflection, emotion, and deep love.

Many families hesitate — not because they lack commitment, but because they care so profoundly. The truth is: seeking support is not giving up. It is stepping forward with courage.

At Hope Ek A.S.H.A., we care not only for our residents, but also for the families who stand beside them. We help them see that choosing structured, professional dementia care is an act of responsibility, strength, and love — not abandonment.

Because care works best when we walk the journey together.
