The day physiotherapy made more sense to me👇
That day, my patient load was lighter than usual. No rush. No back-to-back cases. So I gave one patient a little more time than I normally could.
He had come with the usual request: “Madam, bas dard theek kar dijiye.”
But because I wasn’t hurrying, I listened—really listened. I asked a few extra questions. He spoke a little longer than he probably ever had with any healthcare professional.
And then he said something that stopped me: “Aaj pehli baar laga hai ki main sach mein theek ho sakta hoon.”
It wasn’t a technical milestone. It wasn’t a dramatic pain reduction. It was simply the result of being heard.
That day I realised physiotherapy isn’t only about pain relief. It’s about giving people space to express their fears, frustrations, and hopes. Sometimes, it’s the time we give that does the real healing.
Since then, I’ve changed how I approach my work.
I don’t introduce myself as someone who “treats pain.” I say: “Let’s work together on what matters to you.”
And that small shift changes everything-
the connection, the trust, the outcomes. That quiet day with fewer patients changed how I practice.
And honestly, it changed me too.
