📌Benefits of doing this activity ⤵⤵⤵⤵⤵

➜ Balance and Postural Control:- (requires the child to constantly engage their core and upper trunk muscles to maintain stability.)

➜ Bilateral Coordination:- (Holding and balancing involves the coordinated use of both hands together. In the paddle activity, the entire body needs to be in sync with object.)

➜ Eye-Hand Coordination (Visual-Motor Integration):- (The child must visually track the object,
anticipate its movement, and precisely adjust their hand and body movements to keep it balanced)

➜ Motor Planning:- (The child must plan how, when, and where to move their body and hands to correct the object's balance.)

➜ Sensory Processing:-
• Vestibular Input: (Maintaining balance and working against gravity stimulates the vestibular system.)

➜ Attention and Concentration:- (The highly engaging nature of the activity, coupled with the need to prevent the object from falling, requires intense sustained attention and concentration)

“Every child develops in their own unique way 🌈
But sometimes, certain signs may suggest a child is on the autism spectrum.

Here are 5 early indicators to be mindful of:
👀 Limited eye contact
🔄 Repetitive movements
🗣️ Speech or language delays
📅 Strong need for routines
🎵 Sensory sensitivities

⚠️ Important: Not every child showing these signs has autism — but early awareness means earlier support and better outcomes.

💬 Have you noticed any of these signs in your child or someone you know? Let’s talk in the comments ⬇️”

Benefits of Deep Pressure in Occupational Therapy

1. Calming Effects : Deep pressure therapy involves applying firm, consistent pressure to the body, which can help reduce anxiety and promote relaxation. It is often used to calm individuals with sensory processing disorders.

2. Improved Focus : This technique can enhance attention and focus, making it beneficial for individuals with ADHD or autism. The deep pressure provides sensory input that helps organize the nervous system.

3. Enhanced Body Awareness : Applying deep pressure can improve proprioception, or the awareness of one's body in space. This is particularly helpful for individuals with developmental delays or motor coordination issues.

4. Reduction of Overstimulation : For those who are hypersensitive to sensory input, deep pressure can provide a grounding effect, helping to manage sensory overload by providing a predictable and calming input.

5. Tools and Techniques : Common methods include weighted blankets, compression vests, massage, and the use of therapy balls. Each tool is designed to deliver steady, controlled pressure to various parts of the body.

6. Individualized Approach : Occupational therapists customize deep pressure techniques based on the specific needs and preferences of each individual, ensuring that the therapy is both effective and comfortable.

7. Integration into Daily Life : Deep pressure strategies can be incorporated into daily routines, such as using a weighted lap pad during classroom activities or a compression blanket during sleep, to provide ongoing sensory support.

8. Positive Behavioral Changes : Consistent use of deep pressure therapy can lead to improvements in behavior, such as reduced aggression, fewer meltdowns, and better self-regulation skills in individuals with sensory processing challenges.

Here is a little poem written from the perspective of a non-verbal (or minimally verbal) child just for you...

Mommy, I may not be able to use words to say I love you

But I tell you every day...

Just in a different way

Every time I am soothed by your voice

Every time I smile when I see your face

Every time I seek your attention

Every time I have a meltdown because you are my safe space

Every time I feel free to be me

Every time I show you my work

Every time we snuggle

Every time I point out things I want you to see

Every time I reach for you

Every time I share my toys or my food with you

I wish I could tell you in words

But I hope that you know

No words could fully capture

Just how much I love you so

Love,

Your child

Be Friend – Be Mentor – Be that Guide.

We believe in the philosophy a FRIEND that helps you value yourself, we always try to be that friend of your child. While working on this philosophy we try not to burden the child. As we use play BASED therapy to communicate with the child, which is the best way to make a child learn easily and quickly.

We become a MENTOR that lets a child find their own lens of the world, GUIDE that recognises and helps them overcome their struggles. We help diversify the way a Child's mind works and process the world around them.

We also Help them discover and celebrate their unique perspectives at the same time enabling them with tools to be an active part of their world as well as their understanding of the world around them.
