The lining of your gut, like every surface of your body, is covered in microscopic creatures, mostly bacteria. These organisms create a micro-ecosystem called the microbiome. And though we don’t really notice it’s there, it plays an oversized role in your health and can even affect your mood and behavior.Not surprisingly, what you feed your microbiome may have the biggest impact on its health. What was your first experience with hearing the word "HbA1c"?

So many people have been given their HbA1c number but need clarification on what it means and how to interpret it.

➡️ Two other measures you have probably heard of are fasting blood sugar and post-prandial (post-meal) blood sugar.

These two measures represent your blood sugar at a single point in time.
However, HbA1c gives you about a 3-month average of your blood sugars.

Your HbA1c takes into account day-to-day fluctuations and gives us a more accurate look at your blood sugar regulation. These are the HbA1c ranges :

➡️ < 5.7% is considered below range/normal.
➡️ 5.7%-6.4% is considered the prediabetic range.
➡️ > 6.4% is considered the type 2 diabetes range.

The percent is the amount of sugar (glucose) attached to the hemoglobin in your red blood cells.

The higher the percentage, the more glucose you've had in your bloodstream over the past 3 months. The higher the average glucose, the greater risk of chronic diseases like diabetes.
