We are proud to share the inspiring journey of a tiny warrior who received dedicated care at the NICU of Cloudnine Hospitals, Patparganj - a story of resilience, expert teamwork, and compassionate support.
The mother first presented at around 20 weeks with concerns noted in early scans, including absent nasal bone and raised uterine artery PI. Advanced genetic testing and amniocentesis reports were reassuring, but the pregnancy remained high-risk due to early-onset severe foetal growth restriction and gestational diabetes requiring insulin management. Despite close monitoring and multidisciplinary counselling, the baby’s growth progressively declined, and at 28 weeks and 2 days, a planned preterm caesarean delivery was undertaken after antenatal steroids and neuroprotection.
Born extremely premature and weighing just 575 grams, the baby required immediate intensive support for respiratory distress, including surfactant therapy. The clinical course was complex, with a life-threatening pulmonary haemorrhage on Day 3, prolonged respiratory support, anaemia requiring transfusions, and treatment for Retinopathy of Prematurity. Through every challenge, the neonatology, obstetrics, foetal medicine, and NICU teams worked tirelessly to provide advanced, coordinated care.
After 80 days in the NICU, this resilient little fighter was discharged home at a weight of 1.5 kg, breathing independently and feeding well.
Today, we celebrate this remarkable journey - the strength of the baby, the courage and trust of the parents, and the unwavering dedication of the multidisciplinary team whose expertise and compassion turned a fragile beginning into a hopeful new start.
