Prabodhini Ekadashi-Tulsi Vivah- Dev Uthani Ekadashi- 12th November 2024
Prabodhini Ekadashi occurs on Kartak Sud Ekadashi and symbolizes the day awakening. The spiritual aspirant is encouraged to enlighten himself to realize that he is the atma and that his ultimate goal is to understand Paramatma’s true form. It signals the end of Chaturmaas, or the four holy months. In the Swaminarayan Sampraday, devotees observe a nirjala fast and offer a wide variety of fresh vegetables to Bhagwan known as the hatadi. These vegetables are distributed amongst the devotees as prasad after performing aarti at night. During the monsoon, the lack of sunlight and heavy rains cause insects and bacteria to breed in vegetables. On this day, the vegetables that are harvested are fresh and relatively healthier.

Bhagwan Vishnu returns to Vaikunth from a four month rest after defeating an asura in battle.
Bhagwan Vishnu returns to Vaikunth after guarding King Bali’s doorstep for four months. Shiva and Brahma take over Vishnu’s duties at King Bali’s door.
Tulsi's marriage with Vishnu: Devotees perform a ritual to symbolize the marriage of Tulsi, a holy plant, with Vishnu in the form of Shaligram, a black stone from the Gandaki River.
Annakut: Devotees offer an offering of fresh vegetables to God.
Nirjala fast: Devotees observe a nirjala fast, abstaining from food and water.
Worship of Vishnu and Lakshmi: Devotees perform a puja for Vishnu and Lakshmi with seasonal fruits, vegetables, rice, and sugarcanes.
Breaking the fast: Devotees break the fast during Parana time.

Second day Navratri-Brahmacharini Puja=
Maa Brahmacharini is the second form of Goddess Durga, and her name is derived from two Sanskrit words: "Brahma," meaning the supreme consciousness or knowledge, and "Charini," which means one who pursues or practices. Together, her name means “one who pursues knowledge and self-discipline.” She is revered as the goddess of penance, devotion, and inner strength.
Maa Brahmacharini is depicted as a young woman walking barefoot, holding a japa mala (rosary) in one hand and a kamandalu (water pot) in the other. Her calm, serene demeanour reflects her deep commitment to spiritual practice, penance, and devotion. She is often shown in white attire, symbolising purity and simplicity.

Sharad Navaratri
3rd October 2024 (Day 1):- Goddess Shailaputri has worshipped on the first day of Navratri.
Devotees worship Maa Shailputri. She represents the Root Chakra and is believed to help overcome obstacles. Rituals include Ghatasthapana, offering prayers, and fasting.
The 1st form of Goddess Durga, Maa Shailputri or Goddess Shailputri is worshipped by the devotees on the very 1st day of the Navratri. According to the holy Hindu scriptures, Goddess Sati took a rebirth as the daughter of King Himalaya and came to be known as Shailputri, which in the current context means- Daughter of Himalaya.
The 1st day is dedicated to Goddess Shailputri, the Goddess of Muladhara Chakra or the Root Chakra. It is believed that by worshipping Goddess Shailputri one gets blessed with a life full of peace and harmony as She is known for providing good fortune to all Her devotees.
Mantra
One should recite the following mantra while performing Maa Shailputri Pujan to attain the blessings of the Goddess: “Om Devi Shailaputraayyai Namah”

Happy Sharadiya Navaratri and Victory Day Celebrations.
Navratri’ means ‘nine-nights’ in which devotees worship the divine feminine power of ‘Maa Shakti’ through fasting, prayers and traditional rituals. In 2024, Sharad Navratri 2024 will begin on 3rd October 2024 and ends on Durga Ashtami and Durga Navmi on 11th October 2024 and Victory Day Vijaya dashami on 12th October.
Significance of Navratri:-
Navratri depicts the victory of good over evil, truth over false, and light over darkness. Each day of Navratri is dedicated to different avatar of Goddess Durga, and it is believed that every avatar of Maa Durga descend from the heaven during this period to bless her devotees. This festival is full of rituals, including Navratri Pooja, dedicated worship, and the recitation of Durga Saptashati to seek the blessings of Goddess.

The Navratri ends on Vijayadashami called Dussehra, to celebrate Lord Rama’s victory over the Ravana, reinforcing the festival’s message of moral righteousness.

3rd October 2024 (Day 1):- Goddess Shailaputri has worshipped on the first day of Navratri.
4th October 2024 (Day 2):- Goddess Brahmacharini has honoured on the second day of Navratri.
5th October 2024 (Day 3):- Tritiya and third day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Chandraghanta.
6th October 2024 (Day 4):- On the Fourth day and Chaturthi, Goddess Kushmanda is celebrated.
7th October 2024 (Day 5):- Goddess Skandmata has worshipped on the fifth day or Panchami.
8th October 2024 (day 6):- The sixth day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Katyayani.
9th October 2024 (Day 7):- Goddess Kalaratri is celebrated on Saptami or Seventh Day of Navratri.
10th October 2024 (Day 8):- The eighth day of Navratri marks the worship of Goddess Mahagauri (Durga Ashtami).
11th October 2024 (Day 9):- It marks the worship of Goddess Siddhidatri (Durga Navami)

Pitru Paksha / Shradha- 2024 (17th Sept to 2october 2024)
Pitru or pitar means ancestors, paksha or pak (pakh) means fortnight, and shradh means offering made to ancestors or deceased family members. So, Pitru Paksha or Pitar Pak or Shradh Paksha is a period dedicated to pay homage to our ancestors.
In the year 2024, Pitru Paksha will commence from Tuesday, 17 Sept, 2024 – Wednesday, 2 Oct, 2024. According to Brahmpurana, before worshiping the Gods, a man should worship his ancestors because it is believed that the Gods are pleased with that.. Along with performing the Shradha rituals, below are the ways you can offer charity as a homage to your ancestors:

Pitru Paksha is a 16 day period from Purva Bhadrapada Purnima to Sarvapitri Amavasya; when Hindus pay homage to their ancestor, especially through food offerings. Pitru Paksha is considered by Hindus to be inauspicious, given the death rite performed during the ceremony, known as Shraddha or Tarpan. The last day of Pitru Paksha is known as Sarvapitri Amavasya. It is also known as Pitru Amavasya, Peddala Amavasya, Mahalaya Amavasya or simply Mahalaya. It is the most significant day of Pitru Paksha.

Here are some key dates for Shradha in 2024:
• Pratipada Shradh: September 18
• Panchami Shradh: September 22
• Ashtami Shradh: September 25
