Me: Hey God.
God: Hey John.
Me: Will You help me with something.
God: Always.
Me: I need a miracle.
God: You bet.
Me: Thank you!
God: No problem.
Me: When should I expect to see the miracle that You're sending?
God: The next time you look in the mirror.
Me: Ugh.
God: What?
Me: Come on...I'm being serious.
God: So am I.
Me: I'm not a miracle...
God: Of course you are. You are a festival of miracles. Every breath you take is a miracle. Every tear you shed or smile you give is a miracle. Every hand you hold is a miracle. Every day you don't give into the darkness is a miracle. Every relationship you form with another person is a miracle. Every heartbeat you have is a miracle. Every kiss you give is a miracle. Every word of kindness you offer to others is a miracle. Your entire life is one big patchwork quilt of miracles.
Me: How come I don't feel like a miracle?
God: Because you've taken the fact that you are alive for granted. You treat each moment like it's ordinary. Nothing is ordinary. You are surrounded by my creation - and it's all a miracle - including you. It's time for you to recognize the miracle of your very existence.
Me: I'm not sure I will every be able to recognize that.
God: Yes, you will. Once you stop looking at yourself in the mirror and only seeing your faults, wrinkles and failures you will. Just start looking deeper. You will begin see the divine light that I placed in you long ago. You will begin to see that I don't make anything that is ordinary. I only make miracles - and you are one of my most favorite ones.
Me: This is making me uncomfortable.
God: That makes sense because your heart is starting to change. You are about to give up on looking at yourself through such jaded eyes. You are about to give up being so cruel to yourself. You are about to give up listening to your ego who loves to whisper lies in your ear about how worthless you are. You are about to finally see My light inside of you. You are about to finally believe in miracles again. You are about to see yourself in the same way that I do and nothing in your life will ever be the same again.
Me: What happens after that?
God: Well, for starters you won't have to ask for a miracle anymore.
Me: Because my life is a miracle...
God: You said it. Now go and live it.
