Nutrition science is nuanced. ✅
And, that’s the reason you need to follow and consult qualified professionals, who understand these nuances and don’t say blanket statements, like ‘stop eating rice/roti/carbs to lose weight’ or ‘sugar causes diabetes’. 🤷‍♀️

Being a dietitian does NOT mean I am always on a diet. 🤦‍♀️

This is the biggest misconception people have about me.

So many of my family members assume that ‘I am on a diet’ just because I am a dietitian. I am SICK of hearing this. The irony here is that people want me to ‘not judge’ their eating habits, but they judge mine. 🥲

This constant judgement and comments about a person’s eating habits messes up their relationship with food. Everyone deserves to eat as per their hunger, needs and preferences. ✅

Stop shaming people’s food habits.

Have you also faced such experiences?

Please share with your friends & family to spread awareness. 😄

I wish more people knew that keeping things in sight is what it takes to get started.

You’re more likely to do the habit if things are kept in easy-to-access places than if things were out of sight or kept in places that need more effort from our end. 💯

So, if you want to incorporate healthy habits, be sure to save this & share with a friend who needs it, too!

Remember, OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND ✅

Whether you want to follow such people online, apply their tips or are planning to work with them, read the entire post to stay safe.

Whatever title they give themselves- nutritionist, dietitian, health coach or a wellness coach, these are the signs to look out for. 🔍

Let me get this straight. There is nothing WRONG in sharing how one lost weight or improved their health. But there is a BIG difference between ‘simply sharing what worked for them’ & ‘claiming oneself as a nutrition coach without proper qualifications, guiding others to follow their method and making a business out of it’.

And, NO, 1-, 3- or 6- month courses are not proper or adequate qualifications.

Just like cooking, our health journey is about trial, error, and practice. With time, we get better at it. Perfection isn’t the goal, progress is. ✅

Let me share another example, when you first started with deadlift or squat, the posture may not have been right. With more practice and some supervision, you got it right.

Similarly, let’s give ourselves some grace when we are learning something new. 😄 Shall we?

What do you think?? Let me know in the comments. 👇

When you follow fad diets, your health can see negative consequences like muscle loss, hair loss, irritability, headache, cravings etc.

Stay AWAY from such diets. 🙅‍♀️

Follow a balanced diet that nourishes your body and gives you good energy and keeps your cravings in check. ✅

Share with your friend who follows every fad diet.

When you starve all day, you are likely to end up really hungry and eat a lot of food in one go. 😕
Do yourself a favour and avoid the extremes - starving and feasting. Your body will thank you.

Potatoes, in itself, are not fattening.

When you deep fry it and consume in excess and lead a sedentary life, it becomes fattening.

Potatoes are not the villain behind your weight gain.

🔸How much you eat matters.
🔸Which cooking method you use matters.
🔸What you pair up with it matters.

Let's know the facts and not spread the myths. ✔

Comment below if you also believe or used to believe that potatoes are unhealthy and should be avoided.

No matter how healthy it is, that’s not an excuse to eat more. It’s still sweet.

No matter how many healthy ingredients are used, it still has calories, sugars and fat and cannot be taken in excess.

No matter whether it is besan barfi, ragi ladoo, carrot kheer or beetroot halwa for that matter, they still have sugar and have to be taken in small amounts.

So, let’s stop thinking it is healthy, so it must be low in calories. Adding healthier ingredients in sweets does not mean a green signal to eat in large portions. As with anything in excess, this can be detrimental too.

To be clear, I am not suggesting you avoid sweets during Diwali or any festival for that matter. Enjoy the sweet and other delicacies. Moderation is the key here. 😄

So, enjoy that piece of mithai mindfully and savor each bite to the fullest.

Comment below your favorite sweet.
