A Journey from Pain to Healing with Dr. Anuja Porwal: A Story of Hope and Recovery

For a long time, she lived with constant pain and discomfort—something that slowly began to take over her daily life. Simple tasks became difficult, her energy faded, and the uncertainty of her condition added to her emotional burden. Like many others in search of relief, she consulted multiple places, hoping for answers. But despite her efforts, the pain persisted, her kidney disease kept on worsening and true relief felt out of reach.

She consulted Dr Anuja Porwal in opd she diagnosed her with a multi system disorder and started her on treatment her pain got better and kidney functions stabilised. She started living healthy life and remained stable for years .

She recently developed severe breathing difficulty and swelling in her body. She was brought to the emergency department with critically low oxygen levels (around 50%) and symptoms of infection, fever, and cough. What initially seemed like a worsening illness soon revealed a complex and serious medical situation involving acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), respiratory failure, severe infection (sepsis), and kidney involvement. Doctors at her native place told her family members that she will not survive.

It was at this crucial moment that she was admitted to Fortis Hospital, Noida, under the care of Dr. Anuja Porwal, and her journey toward recovery truly began.
From the very first consultation, there was a sense of reassurance. Dr. Anuja Porwal didn’t just focus on the symptoms—she took the time to truly listen. Every concern, every discomfort, and every fear was acknowledged with patience and empathy. Her ability to explain such complex medical conditions in a simple and understandable way gave the family much-needed clarity and confidence.

Given the severity of her condition, she required icu and prolonged ventilator support, including prone ventilation sessions, which gradually improved her breathing.

At the same time, her kidney condition required urgent attention. Due to fluid overload and deteriorating kidney function, she underwent multiple dialysis sessions.
Her hospital course was challenging, including multiple complications, manier times family left the hope of her survival.
After several days of ventilatory support, she could be taken off ventilator Gradually, she was shifted out of the ICU to the ward, where her recovery continued steadily.
Throughout this journey, the support extended by Dr Anuja Porwal was far beyond just medical treatment. Her dedication, kindness, and readiness to help at every step created an environment where healing felt possible—even during the most difficult moments.

By the time of discharge, she had shown remarkable improvement. She was stable, breathing better, and continuing on a structured recovery plan.

Akriti’s journey is not just about illness—it’s about courage, loss, rebuilding, and finding meaning in the most fragile moments of life.

At just 23, when life is usually filled with dreams and beginnings, Akriti was confronted with something she never saw coming—diagnosis of kidney disease. A diagnosis that quietly altered the course of her life.

What followed was a whirlwind. Within a year her condition worsened and she required either lifelong dialysis or kidney transplant. The world, once steady, had suddenly shifted—but she chose to fight. She underwent kidney transplant. And for a while, things felt hopeful again. Life regained its rhythm. There was healing, there was strength, and there was gratitude.

But life, as it often does, had more in store.
After the storm of COVID, complications struck again. The transplanted kidney—her second chance of life —stopped functioning due to infection. It was another devastating blow. Since then, Akriti has been on dialysis for the past two years—living between machines, time slots, and an unspoken endurance that few truly understand.

Yet, in the middle of this physical battle, something beautiful emerged.
Writing became her refuge. What began as a quiet habit in her school days transformed into a powerful voice after her transplant. Facing mortality so closely changed her perspective—it made her pause, reflect, and feel deeply.

Poetry became her language of survival.
Through verses and essays, she began to process pain, fear, hope, and resilience. Her words started reaching beyond hospital walls—finding space in literary journals across India and even internationally. What once was personal became universal.
And today, that journey has come full circle.

Akriti is now a published author with Seagull Books, a globally recognized publication house based in Kolkata, London, and New York. Her story—once written in hospital files—is now written in books that will touch countless lives.

Behind this journey stands not just her strength, but also the guidance and care of experts like Dr. Anuja Porwal, whose support plays a vital role in helping patients like Akriti navigate the complexities of chronic kidney disease with dignity and hope.
Akriti’s story reminds us that even when life breaks you down to your core, you can still create something profoundly meaningful from the pieces.

She didn’t just survive.
She wrote her way through survival. ✨

A high-protein diet may worsen kidney function in people with kidney damage because your body may have trouble eliminating all the waste products of protein metabolism. Excess protein increases the kidney’s workload to break down and remove protein waste, which can cause stress over time.

Dr Anuja Porwal explains how excessive protein intake can affect kidney health and why balance is key to protecting your kidneys.
