[What matters to you?] I am passionate about providing quality dermatological care to my patients. Many times, patients are not given enough time to speak out or they are not given an adequate explanation about their condition, different management options and the possible outcomes. In my practice, I see to it that every patient is heard patiently, a through explanation about their condition and management and prognosis is provided. After the consultation, my staff also reinforce the treatment schedule and the correct way to use the medications. This ensures quality care, better compliance, better outcomes and a happy patient. I also strive to improve the standing of dermatology as a specialty among other medical colleagues and better the visibility of dermatology among the general public.
[What motivates you in your career?] I was motivated to take medicine in my pre-university college. A simple 'thank you' from a patient who has got better with your treatment, or even from a patient who feels that you have put your best efforts to alleviate their medical condition and been compassionate enough is what drives me.
[If you could change anything what would that be?] With increasing incidences of medical personnel coming under attack in hospitals, I would like to see a change in perception among the general public that doctors are as human as them who do their best to bring a positive change and it is not always possible have a positive outcome in every other patient. I would also like to ensure accessible and affordable health care both to the rural and urban under-privileged, ‘reaching the unreached’.
