Solar power, which is powered by the sun's abundant rays, has immense potential in the quest for sustainable energy. India ranks fourth in the world in solar power capacity and seventh in total photovoltaic installed capacity. The country possesses abundant solar energy potential. India’s land mass receives approximately 5000 trillion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of solar energy per year, with most areas receiving between 4 and 7 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per square meter per day. Several states, like Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu, have the highest solar potential and installed capacity in India.
