Cervical cancer is the most common cancer in women in India. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) reports that there are about 132,000 new cases of cervical cancer every year in India. This accounts for nearly a third of the global burden of cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer is caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV is a sexually transmitted virus that can cause cervical cancer and other cancers of the ge****ls. The HPV vaccine can protect women from cervical cancer. However, the HPV vaccine is not widely available in India.

Cervical cancer can be treated if it is detected early. However, many women in India do not have access to screening and diagnosis services. As a result, many women in India are diagnosed with cervical cancer when it is in a advanced stage. This makes the treatment more difficult and the prognosis poorer.

There is a lack of awareness about cervical cancer in India. Many women in India do not know that cervical cancer is a preventable disease. There is a need for increased awareness about cervical cancer and the availability of screening and diagnosis services.
