दीपज्योतिः परंब्रह्म दीपज्योतिर्जनार्दनः। दीपो हरतु मे पापं दीपज्योतिर्नमोऽस्तु ते॥ The light of the lamp (Diya) represents the supreme Brahman, the light of the lamp represents Janardhana (the master of the universe), Let the light of this lamp eliminate our sins; My salutations to the this (radiant and eternal) light. दीपक की रोशनी सर्वोच्च ब्राह्मण का प्रतिनिधित्व करती है, दीपक की रोशनी जनार्दन (ब्रह्मांड का स्वामी) का प्रतिनिधित्व करती है,(प्रार्थना है कि) इस दीपक का प्रकाश हमारे पापों का हरण करें। मैं इस प्रकाश (जीवनदाता) को अभिवादन करता हूँ।
