Govardhan Eco Village is a project of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. It is a place of pilgrimage known as a Dhama – a holy abode of Lord Krishna. We are committed to practicing and sharing a spiritually oriented lifestyle based on the devotional principles of Bhakti coming in the lineage of the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition. The manifestation of this project is due to the ferve
nt desire of Radhanatha Swami in dedication to his beloved Guru, His Divine Grace A. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada – “To erect for the members and society at large, a holy place of transcendental pastimes, dedicated to the personality of Krishna.”
The topographical modelling of the place includes construction of lakes, gardens, temples and shrines which are of devotional importance in Vrindavan, so that visitors can have a similar experience to that of Vrindavan in Mathura, U.P. Most notably, the river Yamuna and the hill Govardhan have been grandly re-constructed to complete the feel of Vrindavan. The biggest highlight is the replica of the Madana-mohana temple from Vrindavan which is 90ft high, and the tallest temple in the district. Govardhan Eco Village also practices and promotes eco-friendly living i.e. living in harmony with Mother Earth (Bhumi-devi), and honouring her — by living in ways that replenish her resources rather than exploiting them — and utilizing these resources given by her, for the service of Lord Krishna. Govardhan Eco village has gradually shaped over a decade of labour, hard work and the blessings of many devotees. They run several rural development initiatives in nearby villages with the help of Govardhan Rural Development.
