STROKE (cerebrovascular accident)
Damage to the brain from interruption of the blood supply
Causes are classified to 3 types
Ischemic stroke (Blocked artery)
hemorrahegic stroke( leaking or bursting of a blood vessel)
temporary disruption of blood flow to the brain known as a transient ischemic attack (TIA)
CAUSES of
ischemic stroke
smoking
high blood pressure
obesity
high cholestrol levels
diabetes
excessive alchohol intake
ischemic strokes 2 types
thrombotic strokes
embolic strokes
thrombic strokes caused by blood clot that forms in an artery that supplies blood to your brain
embolic strokes they happen when a clot forms somewhere else in your body and nerves through the blood vessels to your brain
SYMPTOMS
muscular : difficulty walking instability
paralysis with weak muscles
problems with coordination
stiff muscles
overactive reflexes
paralysis of one side of the body
visual: blured vision
double vision
sudden visual loss
temporary loss of vision in one eye
speech: difficulty speaking
slurred speech
or speech loss
whole body: fatigue
limbs: numbness or weakness
sensory : reduced sensation of touch
fascial : muscle weakness or numbness
difficult in swallowing, headache
rapid involuntary eye movement
HEMORRHAGIC STROKE
Condition in which a ruputed blood vessel causes bleeding inside the brain
CAUSES
high blood pressure
injury
bleeding disorder

muscular weakness of one side of the body or paralysis of one side of the body
decreased level of consciousness
difficulty speaking fainting headache
sensivity of light
unequal pupils
TREATMENTS
in physiotherapy
passive movements for reduce stiffness and increase circulation
muscle stimulation for muscle power 0
muscle strengthening by active resisted exercises
gait training
coordination exercises
pain relieving modalities to reduce pain etc
