Birth Centenary Remembrance
Fr. Romualdo DāSouza
(20 December 1925 ā 1 November 2019)
On the occasion of the birth centenary of Fr. Romualdo DāSouza, we share excerpts from a past post that continue to capture, most truthfully, who he was to us.
Fr. Romualdo believed deeply in learning that transforms, not merely informs. True to his vision, he went on to found the M.A. in Wellness Counselling programme, envisioning a mental health system rooted in wholeness, strength, and the actualisation of human potential rather than illness alone.
With remarkable determination, especially in his later years, he took on the challenge of building this programme from the ground up. The course began full-fledged operations in July 2015, and Fr. Romualdo continued to engage with students and conduct classes until his final days.
A mentor by example, he reminded us that learning never ceases, that humility is a way of life, and that education is about knowledge-sharing, not authority.
As we remember him today, we do so with gratitudeāfor his vision, his quiet strength, and a legacy that continues to shape the Department of M.A. Wellness Counselling.
