Why purpose is above financial success during change?
Perseverance.
Personal Comment:
For me purpose is something I hold dear to my heart which informs me on how my core values are getting implemented in the future. There are hard times and I can manage because I don't cheat on my purpose. If that means making less money or sacrificing other luxuries, I would do it. However that said, my purpose informs the story that is taking place around me and I am processing it and making wiser decisions to outweigh previous losses.

The essence of communicating the "why" goes beyond focusing on outcomes or financial returns. It should echo wider implications for your team, culture and clients, not just the bottom line. For example, start by articulating the vision the change is meant to serve, urging your teams (and yourself) to envision the brighter tomorrow that change can herald in a meaningful way.
But don’t stop there. Develop your personal "why." What will this change mean for you professionally or personally? How does it align with your core values and career aspirations? By personalizing the change, you create a deep reservoir of motivation to draw from when the going gets tough.

Purpose matters over financial outcomes because it taps into a deeper, more meaningful aspect of human existence. While financial outcomes are important for meeting our material needs and achieving certain goals, they often don't provide a sense of fulfillment or satisfaction on their own.
Having a sense of purpose gives our lives direction and meaning. It helps us feel connected to something larger than ourselves and motivates us to make a positive impact in the world. Purpose can come from various sources, such as meaningful work, relationships, personal passions, or contributing to a cause greater than ourselves.
Moreover, research suggests that people who have a strong sense of purpose tend to be happier, healthier, and more resilient in the face of challenges. They have a clearer sense of what they want to accomplish and are more willing to persevere through difficulties to achieve their goals.
While financial success can certainly contribute to a sense of security and freedom, it is often not enough to sustain long-term happiness and fulfillment. Purpose, on the other hand, provides a deeper and more enduring source of meaning in our lives.
