GOMECON is an annual Pan Indian undergraduate medical student’s conference organised by the Goa Medical College Students Association and is one of the Premier Medical Events of the Goa Medical College and Hospital or the Escola Médico-Cirúrgica de (Nova) Goa as it was called prior to 1963. It being one of the ol
dest medical colleges in Asia established in 1842. GOMECON contemplates a purpose to serve as a platform to the upcoming Medical Professionals to showcase their talent and to develop a research and innovation based aptitude, while promoting the exchange of information, ideas and important skills among medical students and develop healthy competition among them, through our workshops and events. Also it envisions bringing about a shot at a conglomerate between the Imminent Medical Professionals and the Medical Students of the various Colleges invited to attend the same and participate with fervour dedication of achieving prosperity and fame to their respective colleges. The Organising Council feel pleasure to invite the future physicians of India to the beautiful land of sun sand and the sea and be a part of this of this unique amalgamation of knowledge, intellect and talent to deliver “EXECELLENCE, EVERYTIME, EVERYWHERE”
THE THEME OF THE CONFERENCE
GOMECON is all about venturing into newer untouched virgin grounds and is associated with a theme every year to draw attention to a subject of major importance to global health each year. The theme for the conference has been chosen to be “Adolescent Health: The Forsaken Conflagration”. Extending our horizons into that phase of growing up which is seldom spoken about. We being a part of the upcoming health system of society have to acknowledge that adolescence is that time of transition and inner emotional upheaval, a struggle between the upcoming physical maturity and a thrill seeking psychological irresponsibility, facing problems seldom talked about and mostly ignored. Breaking the old school thoughts of the invincibility of this age, let’s bring new rays of wisdom and understanding to these areas which have been clouded in darkness. So do join us at this confluence of the ignited minds.
