We're thrilled to share that our ongoing Reconstructive Surgery Camp at Kothara Leprosy Hospital is making a profound impact! Currently, 28 patients have been admitted for life-changing surgeries.
Reconstructive surgery offers incredible benefits for individuals affected by leprosy, going far beyond physical healing:
• Improved Functionality: Corrects deformities like claw hand, foot drop, and lagophthalmos (inability to close the eye), restoring the ability to perform daily tasks and work.

Phototherapy, or light therapy, uses controlled ultraviolet (UV) light to treat various chronic skin conditions. It is a safe, non-invasive, and highly effective treatment method used globally.

Kothara Leprosy Hospital, in collaboration with ADHS Amravati, organized a comprehensive 2-day training program focused on the prevention of disabilities in leprosy. The training was aimed at the NELP staff of Amravati District and featured a range of expert resource persons including Dr. Milind Chavan, Superintendent of Kothara Leprosy Hospital; Dr. Poonam Mohokar, ADHS Amravati; Mr. Ansari from ALERT India; Mr. Suresh Dhondge, NLEP Coordinator Maharashtra; and Ms. Shilpi Roy, Physiotherapist at KLH.

A total of 28 participants attended the training, which combined theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice. The program ensured that participants not only learned the necessary concepts but also applied them in practical scenarios. Upon completion, certificates were awarded to all participants, recognizing their dedication and newly acquired skills.

🌟 Kothara Leprosy Hospital RCS Camp Success! 🌟
We are thrilled to share the success of our recent RCS camp held at Kothara from April 7-9, 2025. During this camp, 10 individuals affected by leprosy with Grade 2 disabilities received life-changing treatments. A total of 9 Reconstructive Surgeries (RCS) and 1 skin grafting procedure were performed.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Vijaykumar (surgeon) and the dedicated team for their incredible work. We also extend our gratitude to everyone who supported us through prayers and by referring patients to this camp.

Great to have 17 MSW students and 3 teachers from Matoshri Anjanbai Mundafale College of Social Work, Narkhed, Nagpur, visit Kothara Leprosy Hospital! We shared our expertise on leprosy, covering its clinical and social aspects and addressing common myths. This orientation was part of their curriculum, and we hope it provided valuable insights.
