Recanalise 2025: Advanced Heart Care
Parumala Hospital hosted Recanalise 2025, a special workshop focused on treating one of the most challenging heart conditions — Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO). A CTO occurs when one of the heart’s blood vessels is completely blocked for a long time, restricting blood flow to parts of the heart. Treating it requires advanced skills, precision and experience.
The workshop was inaugurated with the blessings of His Grace Dr. Yuhanon Mar Chrisostomos, Metropolitan of the Niranam Diocese. Fr. M.C Poulose (CEO, Parumala Hospital) officially welcomed the gathering. Also present were Fr. Cherian Jacob (Vice President, Balasamajam) and Fr. Jiju Varghese (Hospital Chaplain), who have been constant pillars of support in the hospital’s mission of compassionate, holistic care.
The highlight of the event was the presence of Dr. Sanjog Kalra, a globally renowned heart specialist from Toronto General Hospital, Canada. Dr.Sanjoh is known for his expertise in complex and high-risk coronary interventions, especially CTO, Dr. Kalra brought a wealth of international experience. His live case demonstrations and insights were of immense value to the participants and staff. His presence truly elevated the workshop. Joining him was Dr. Ankush Gupta, Senior Interventional Cardiologist from Command Hospital, Pune, who contributed significantly to the sessions with his experience and clinical knowledge.
The workshop was led by Dr. Mahesh Nalin Kumar, Head of the Cardiology Department and supported by a dynamic team including Dr. George Koshy, Dr. Sanoop K.S, Dr. Arya Subhadra, Dr. Joyal Jose Kandathil and Dr. Ampady Sreedhar. Their dedication and teamwork were key to the success of the event. The Cardiothoracic Surgery team, with Dr. Jayakrishnan (Senior Heart Surgeon) and Dr. Sujatha M (Senior Cardiac Anesthesiologist), also extended their expert support throughout the sessions.
