*Cybercrime Awareness Session and Pledge Ceremony at Botany Department*

The Botany Department of Khalsa College, Patiala, organized a cybercrime awareness session and pledge ceremony, aiming to educate students of B.Sc. Medical about the growing menace of cybercrimes and promote digital safety. The event featured Prof. Rajdeep Singh Dhaliwal, Head of the Botany Department, as the keynote speaker.

In his address, Prof. Dhaliwal shed light on various types of cybercrimes, including hacking, phishing, identity theft, and cyberbullying. He emphasized the importance of adopting safe online practices, such as using strong passwords, being cautious of suspicious links, and securing personal devices.

The session also covered ways to report cybercrime incidents and the role of individuals in preventing such crimes. Students took a pledge to promote cyber safety and contribute to creating a secure digital environment.

The event aimed to empower students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. S. Harpreet Singh Lab Assistant, Botany Department and students participated in this event.

*International Day of Older Persons: Celebrating Wisdom and Contributions*

The Botany Department of Khalsa College, Patiala, observed the International Day of Older Persons on October 1, 2025, with great enthusiasm and reverence. The day is dedicated to recognising the invaluable contributions and experiences of senior citizens, acknowledging their wisdom, and promoting their well-being.

A special program was organised by the department, featuring a series of events that highlighted the importance of respecting and appreciating the elderly. The students and faculty members came together to pay tribute to the senior citizens in their lives, sharing stories and memories of their experiences and the lessons they have learned from them.
The inclusion of a video message from Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha, with his poignant quote "ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਸੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਧਾਰ, ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਸੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਧਾਰ," adds a touching element to the celebration.
The program included a lecture on the topic Older persons driving local and global action: our aspirations, our well-being and our rights" delivered by Head of Department Prof. Rajdeep Singh Dhaliwal.

Through this initiative, the Botany Department aimed to promote intergenerational bonding, respect, and empathy towards senior citizens. The event served as a reminder of the crucial role that older persons play in our society and the need to create an inclusive and supportive environment for them.

The department expresses its gratitude to all the participants and organisers who made this event a success. We look forward to continuing our efforts in promoting the well-being and dignity of senior citizens in our community.
