Suvarnaprashan Sanskar is one of the 16 essential Sanskars (rituals) described in Ayurveda for children. It is a time-tested immuno-modulatory practice that involves administering a combination of gold ash (Suvarna bhasma) mixed with honey and ghee, along with herbal extracts, to enhance a child’s immunity, intelligence, digestion, and overall growth.
Benefits of Suvarnaprashan:

Ideal Age for Administration:

• The most auspicious time is on Pushya Nakshatra, which occurs once every month, as it is believed to have celestial benefits that enhance the potency of the medicine.
Ingredients:
• Suvarna Bhasma (Gold Ash): Purified and processed gold in a microfine form.
• Cow Ghee: Acts as a carrier for herbs and promotes digestion.
• Honey: Known for its healing and immunity-boosting properties.
• Herbal Decoctions: Herbs like Brahmi, Shankhpushpi, and Vacha are often included to enhance cognitive function.
How is it Administered?
The child is given a few drops of Suvarnaprashan in liquid or semi-liquid form, often on an empty stomach in the morning. The dosage is adjusted based on the age of the child.
Precautions:
• Ensure it is prepared under the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic physician.
• Avoid giving Suvarnaprashan if the child is unwell or during fever.
