On the occasion of , celebrated every year in October, a ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Walk’ was organized by the Department of Radiation Oncology, AIIMS Patna, on 14th October 2025. The walk started from the Admin Block and concluded at the OPD Foyer.

The program commenced with the release of pink balloons, symbolizing hope and awareness, followed by an awareness rally graced by Prof. (Brig.) Dr. Raju Agarwal (Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Patna), Prof. (Dr.) Punam Bhadani (Dean, Academics), Prof. (Dr.) Anup Kumar (Medical Superintendent), Prof. (Dr.) Pritanjali Singh (HOD, Radiation Oncology), along with Dr. Nilesh Mani, Dr. Harikesh Bahadur Singh, and Dr. Minakshi Mishra (Assistant Professors, Radiation Oncology).

Faculty from various departments also joined the event, including Dr. Upasna (Addl. Professor, Radiology), Dr. Veena (HOD, Plastic Surgery), and Dr. Azhar (Assistant Professor, Surgical Oncology), who shared valuable insights on the importance of breast cancer awareness.

Senior residents, junior residents, nursing officers, and staff from the Dept. of Radiation Oncology participated enthusiastically in the rally.
A Nukkad Natak was also performed in the OPD Foyer by http://B.Sc. Nursing students, highlighting the benefits of early detection, screening, and self-examination in preventing breast cancer.

Hon’ble Executive Director Prof. (Brig.) Dr. Raju Agarwal interacted with the public, encouraging early detection and promoting awareness about healthy lifestyle practices.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pritanjali Singh emphasized that breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed among women worldwide.
According to GLOBOCAN 2022, the global incidence of breast cancer is 22.96 lakh, while in India, it is 1.92 lakh. The lifetime risk of developing breast cancer in females is 1 in 8.
Every 4 minutes, a new breast cancer case is diagnosed, and every 8 minutes, one woman succumbs to the disease — a burden that can be significantly reduced through early detection, timely treatment, regular screening, and sustained public awareness.

2025 was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Dept. of Anaesthesiology to mark the discovery of ether anaesthesia on October 16, 1846.

As part of the celebrations, a special Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training session was organized for 50 jawans of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). The programme aimed to spread awareness about the importance of timely in saving lives during emergencies. Anaesthesiologists conducted hands-on demonstrations of basic life support techniques, emphasizing early recognition and prompt action in cardiac arrest.

In the evening, an interdepartmental celebration was held, highlighting the department’s outstanding achievements in research, academics, and clinical excellence. Prof. (Dr.) Umesh Kumar Bhadani, HOD, presented the department’s milestones and shared its continued commitment to advancing safe anaesthesia practices, patient care, and medical education.

Senior officials including Prof. (Brig.) Dr. Raju Agarwal (Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Patna), Prof. (Dr.) Punam Prasad Bhadani (Dean Academics), Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar (Dean Examination), Prof. (Dr.) Anup Kumar (Medical Superintendent), and several faculty members graced the occasion. Students and staff members also participated actively. A special CPR dance was presented as part of the celebration.

Director (AIIMS Patna) emphasized the crucial role of anesthesiologists in the growth and development of the institute.

Day 3 | On the occasion of , the Dept. of Trauma Surgery & Critical Care, AIIMS Patna, organized a vibrant & awareness-filled programme in front of the Trauma Block to promote road safety and trauma prevention among the general public.

A Nukkad Natak (street play) was performed by B.Sc. Nursing students under the guidance of Dr. Anil Kumar, Professor, Trauma Surgery and Critical Care. The play effectively conveyed messages of responsible driving, adherence to traffic rules, and the importance of timely medical care after accidents.

The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of over a hundred participants, who actively engaged and learned the basics of road safety and crucial steps to prevent road traffic accidents.

The programme was graced by Professor and HOD Trauma Surgery & Critical Care, along with faculty members including Dr. Rekha Kumari (Assistant Professor), Dr. Sanjay Kumar (Assistant Professor), Ms. Puja Thakur (Tutor, College of Nursing), and Senior Residents Dr. Abhisekh and Dr. Shashi Kant, who were present throughout the event to support and encourage the participants.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Anil Kumar remarked:
- “Nukkad Natak is one of the most effective ways to communicate important social and health messages. Trauma is a major public health issue, and awareness is the first step toward saving lives. By educating the community about road safety and first response, we can significantly reduce trauma-related mortality and morbidity.”

In the second half of the event, a painting competition was organized within the Trauma Block, where faculty members, doctors, nursing officers, and staff expressed their creativity by depicting themes of safety, awareness, and self-protection on roads.

The entire programme reflected AIIMS Patna’s commitment to public health education, community engagement, and building a safer Bihar through trauma awareness and prevention.

A hands-on CPR training session was conducted on 16th October 2025, at the College of Nursing, AIIMS Patna, under .

A total of 52 housekeeping staff members of AIIMS Patna actively participated in the session. The aim was to equip participants with essential life-saving skills and highlight the importance of in emergency situations.

The training followed the standard CPR guidelines set by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India

The session significantly enhanced emergency response readiness among housekeeping staff, empowering them to act responsibly and effectively in critical situations.

AIIMS Patna is celebrating CPR Awareness Week from 13th to 17th October 2025 with a series of educational and engaging activities aimed at promoting the importance of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) among healthcare professionals, students, and the general public.

As part of the celebration, a Poster Competition was organized on 15th October 2025 at the institute. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and staff, who showcased their creativity and awareness through informative and visually appealing posters.

The competition aimed to spread awareness about the significance of timely CPR in saving lives during cardiac emergencies and to encourage everyone to learn this essential life-saving skill. As part of the Nationwide 2025, a hands-on CPR training session was successfully conducted on 15th October 2025, at the College of Nursing, AIIMS Patna.

A total of 40 Nursing Officers from AIIMS Patna actively participated in the session. The event aimed to enhance life-saving skills among healthcare professionals and reinforce the importance of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in emergency situations.

The training was conducted in accordance with the standard guidelines provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Each participant received individual guidance during the hands-on demonstrations, ensuring proficiency in the essential steps of CPR.

In addition to the practical component, an interactive CPR Quiz was conducted through the official platform of the Government of India, engaging participants in a knowledge-based assessment to reinforce their learning.

As part of the nationwide Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Awareness Week, organized under the direction of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, a team from AIIMS Patna conducted hands-only training sessions to promote life-saving skills among the general public.

Under the guidance of Prof. (Brig.) Dr. Raju Agarwal, Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS Patna, a team comprising Dr. Divendu Bhushan (HOD Emergency Medicine & Nodal Patient Safety Officer), Dr. Deepak Kumar (Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine), and Mr. Inderjeet Singh Yadav (Assistant Nursing Superintendent, Emergency Medicine) visited the District Hospital, Patna, under the State Health Society, and trained non-clinical staff in hands-only CPR techniques.

The team demonstrated how prompt and effective CPR can save lives during sudden cardiac arrest, especially in situations where professional medical help may take time to arrive. Participants received hands-on practice to build confidence in applying the technique during real-life emergencies.

A similar training session was also conducted at Hotel Maurya, Patna, where over 40 hotel staff members actively participated. The AIIMS Patna team emphasized the importance of such initiatives in empowering community members to respond swiftly and effectively during cardiac emergencies.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Divendu Bhushan highlighted that the goal of these sessions is to make every citizen capable of being a “life-saver” in critical moments. He added that awareness and timely intervention are key to preventing loss of life due to sudden cardiac arrest.

The CPR Awareness Week initiative by AIIMS Patna aims to spread essential life-saving knowledge across diverse sections of society and strengthen the chain of survival during emergencies.

The Department of Trauma Surgery and Critical Care at AIIMS Patna launched a four-day observance of (14–17 October 2025) to reaffirm the Institute’s commitment to enhancing trauma services, training, and community safety across the region.

The event began on 14 October with an intensive Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) workshop attended by over 200 delegates. Participants received hands-on training in ultrasound basics for trauma and critical care, laparoscopic skill practice on manikins, and suturing using animal tissue under expert supervision.

The official inauguration was held on 15 October 2025, graced by Prof. (Brig.) Dr. Raju Agarwal, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Patna. Senior leaders who attended and congratulated the trauma team included Prof. (Dr.) Punam Prasad Bhadani (Dean, Academics), Prof. (Dr.) Ruchi Sinha (Dean, Students’ Affairs), Prof. (Dr.) Anup Kumar (Medical Superintendent), and Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kumar (Professor & Head, Trauma Surgery & Critical Care).

“We will take all necessary initiatives to strengthen trauma care so that every citizen benefits from timely, high-quality services,” said Prof. (Brig.) Dr. Raju Agarwal during the inauguration.

Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kumar reviewed the Department’s journey since its inception in August 2012, highlighting milestones and the expansion of academic and clinical services. He noted the successful launch of two http://M.Ch. courses in Trauma Surgery and Critical Care and emphasized the need to expand pre-hospital care to reduce mortality and morbidity.

The CME session attracted over 400 delegates, including experts and faculty from institutions across India, who shared insights and best practices to strengthen the Trauma team’s capabilities.

Faculty members Dr. Anurag Kumar, Dr. Majid Anwer, Dr. Rekha Kumari, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, and Dr. Saket Prakash actively participated, leading sessions on clinical protocols, system strengthening, caregiver support, and trauma care networking.

As part of public outreach, the Department will organize a Nukkad Natak (street play) and painting competition to raise awareness about accident prevention and first-response safety. The programme will conclude on 17 October 2025 with a helmet distribution drive and walkathon promoting road safety and accident prevention.

Key Objectives:
• Strengthen clinical and pre-hospital trauma care through targeted training (POCUS, surgical skills).
• Build team capacity through CME and expert engagement.
• Raise public awareness on injury prevention and road safety.
• Advocate for wider trauma service expansion and improved emergency care access.

In observance of (October) and Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day (13th October), the Department of Community and Family Medicine, AIIMS Patna, organized an interactive awareness program at Ghanshyam Balika Vidyalaya, Khagaul, on 11th October 2025, with the participation of over 150 enthusiastic students.

The event featured a health talk on breast cancer awareness, focusing on recognizing early warning signs, understanding risk factors, availing screening services, and the demonstration of self-breast examination. This was followed by a lively nukkad natak (street play) that highlighted the importance of early detection and the need to break taboos surrounding women’s health.

An essay competition on “Women’s Health and Empowerment” was also conducted, and the winners were felicitated on the same day.

Faculty members, residents, and interns from the department actively engaged with the students, making the session both educational and inspiring.

This activity was part of the department’s ongoing initiatives during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, emphasizing the importance of breast self-examination, recognizing early warning signs, understanding risk factors, and promoting regular screening services. The program also underscored the role of men in supporting women’s health through encouragement, awareness, and timely medical consultation.

The event aligned with this year’s theme — “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters” — reminding everyone that each breast cancer journey is different and that timely, compassionate, and equitable care is essential for all, regardless of background.
