Robotic Sigmoid Colon Surgery (Anterior Resection) 🎉🤝

Happy to share that our wonderful warrior, who had sigmoid colon cancer with uncontrolled blood sugar and severe neutropenia, successfully underwent Robotic Anterior Resection surgery with anastomosis.

Despite her multiple long-term issues and an anastomosis without a stoma, she recovered gracefully — underlining the importance of advanced technology like Robotic surgery.

Thanks to our Endocrine Team (Dr. Sakshi) and the patient’s family for their trust and continuous support.

When your patient is super happy… you get invited for a Dawat! 🥘😊

🤖 Robotic Colore**al Surgery 🎉

“Quality of life” is equally important for cancer patients.
Faster recovery, early return to work, and the ability to carry out daily activities independently are the need of the hour.

Thanks to its precision and finesse, Robotic Surgery helps achieve all of these with flying colours! 🌈💪

Happy to share that the Department of Surgical Oncology, Apollomedics Lucknow successfully performed a complex retroperitoneal tumor excision — involving a tumor located retro-IVC, retro-aortic, suprarenal, and behind the liver.

The complexity of this tumor lay in its challenging location — nestled in a blind spot behind all major structures like the inferior vena cava, aorta, abutting the vertebra, and positioned at the junction of the thorax and abdomen.

The tumor was completely excised in toto. Thanks to my dear colleague Dr. Harsh*t, and the anesthesia team — Dr. Shishir Sir and Dr. Priyadashini — for their excellent intraoperative management.

The patient was shifted out of ICU on Postoperative Day 1 and discharged on Postoperative Day 4.

Compassion and empathy
That’s what all cancer warriors want.

If a patient holds your hand,
it means they trust you.

Humbled — another blissful day in cancer care.

TAMIS – “Rectum-Preserving Re**al Cancer Surgery” 🎉

Avoiding a stoma is the most common request from patients with re**al cancer.

Lower re**al cancers have traditionally been treated with abdominoperineal resection (APR), which results in a permanent stoma. However, with advancements in surgical technology, re**al preservation has become an important and achievable goal in carefully selected cases.

TAMIS (Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery) is a minimally invasive technique that allows for the resection of re**al cancers with clear margins — all while preserving the re**um.

We’re happy to share that our patient successfully underwent this procedure — and we were able to avoid a permanent, lifelong stoma following all oncological principles. ✅

Happy to inaugurate and be a part of this wonderful initiative — “Centre of Excellence – Surgical Oncology” at Apollomedics, Lucknow.

Comprehensive cancer care requires not only qualified doctors but also efficient nursing staff who are specifically trained in oncology patient care. This initiative will be a great platform for our dedicated nursing officers to receive training and develop expertise in this critical field.

Heartfelt thanks to our Nursing Superintendent, Mrs. Saratha Kalarani, and her wonderful team for organizing this thoughtful and impactful initiative.

Robotic Gynae-Oncology

Happy to share that our wonderful 72-year-old madam - “suspected Uterine cancer” with chronic kidney failure and multiple comorbidities, had successfully underwent Robotic uterine surgery.

A happy and enthusiastic patient on Post-Operative Day 1, despite multiple comorbidities, beautifully underlines the advantages of Robotic minimally invasive surgery and its faster recovery.

Stage 4 Cancer Cure/Surgery – Cytoreductive Surgery with HIPEC – Peritoneal Surface Malignancy 🇮🇳

Recurrent and Stage 4 cancers are challenging to treat due to aggressive tumor biology, poor patient condition, and reduced physiological reserve caused by chemotherapy and long-term medications.

Happy to share that our cancer warrior, despite having a recurrent cancer 6 years after the primary treatment, was successfully treated with CRS + HIPEC surgery.

Explaining the benefits of CRS + HIPEC to patients who are already physically and mentally depleted is a huge challenge.

Appropriate patient counselling, proper patient selection, and a skilled surgical, anaesthesia, and ICU team are the keys to success.

Robotic Cancer Surgery 🎉

Glad to see our cancer patient/warrior sitting and walking comfortably on POD 1, with a face full of smiles after radical cancer surgery.

The patient successfully underwent a robotic radical hysterectomy with bilateral pelvic lymph node dissection for uterine cancer.

Minimally invasive robotic cancer surgeries are the future. Happy to see most of our patients becoming more aware of them and wanting to undergo cancer surgery using the robotic platform (Davinci Xi).

Robotic Cancer Surgery: Precision with Comfort

Imagine waking up one morning feeling slightly unwell — a mild fever, some myalgia — but knowing you have a cancer surgery scheduled. Postponing isn’t an option, because timely intervention is critical in oncology. With patient safety as the top priority and support from trusted surgical colleagues in the OT, you proceed.

As you enter the operating theatre, your robotic platform awaits — a reassuring presence, offering precision, stability, and above all, comfort.

The ability to sit and operate in a calm, ergonomic environment is a true game-changer. Unlike traditional open or laparoscopic surgeries that require standing for prolonged hours, robotic surgery allows for greater physical ease, even during demanding procedures.

Grateful to my exceptional surgical oncology team at the bedside for their support and coordination.

When the surgeon is comfortable, the surgery is not only safer — it’s often more efficient and effective.

That moment when cancer enters your family's life—everything blurs except the diagnosis. But knowledge is power during these overwhelming times.

When sitting in that doctor's office, make sure to ask:

❓What specific type of cancer is it?
❓What caused it?
❓What stage is it?
❓What exact steps come next?
❓What are the financial considerations?

Save this post—because in moments of crisis, you might not remember what questions need asking.
