Emedoc Medcase:
Anencephaly is the most severe form of cranial neural tube defect (NTD) and is characterized by an absence of cortical tissue (although the brainstem and cerebellum may be variably present) as well as an absence of the cranial vault. The morphological spectrum within anencephaly ranges from holocrania (most severe form) to merocrania (mildest form)

A "frog eye" or "mickey mouse" appearance may be seen when seen in the coronal plane due to absent cranial bone/brain and bulging orbits.

Anencephaly occurs when the upper part of the neural tube does not close completely. This often results in the birth of a baby without the front part of the brain (forebrain) and the part responsible for thinking and coordination (brain).

QUESTION: IN THESE CASES DO YOU AGREE WITH THE ABORTION?

Neonate born with occipital encephalocele

Encephalocele, also known as meningoencephalocele, is a form of neural tube defect and a type of cephalocele where brain tissue and overlying meninges herniate out through a defect in the cranium.

Encephalocele is a congenital neural tube defect (NTD) characterized by herniation/protrusion of the intracranial contents (meninges, brain, and part of the ventricles) through a defect in the cranium.

Encephalocele is caused by failure of the closure of the cranial part of the developing neural tube during pregnancy.

Emedoc MedCase of Cystic Hygroma

▪A cystic hygroma also known as (Macrocystic lymphatic malformation, Cystic lymphangioma) is a fluid-filled sac that results from a blockage in the lymphatic system. It is most commonly located in the neck or head area, but can be located anywhere in the body. It may be discovered in a fetus during a pregnancy ultrasound, or it may be apparent at birth as a soft bulge under the skin.

A cystic hygroma may be caused by genetic or environmental factors that cause abnormal development of the lymphatic vascular system during embryonic growth. It may occur on its own or as part of a genetic syndrome with other features, such as Turner syndrome, Down syndrome or Noonan syndrome.

Location
They occur most commonly in the neck, which is then also termed nuchal cystic hygroma (occurs in ~80% of cases) 7 and axilla, with only 10% of cases extending to the mediastinum 2,3 and only 1% confined to the chest 1.

▪Treatment involves removing the cystic hygroma, although removing all of it may not be possible. Other treatments that have been tried with limited success include chemotherapy, injection of sclerosing medicines, radiation therapy, and steroids.

Sirenomelia or 'mermaid syndrome' is a disease known for centuries, since earlier times children with this disease were treated as "monsters" or as "mermaids" for which they were rejected, sometimes sacrificed or hidden by your families.

Sirenomelia is a congenital and lethal malformation of unknown etiology, without a hereditary pattern, and a proven genetic basis. It is produced by an early alteration in vascular development, and the degree of defects depending on the moment in which blood sequestration occurs during embryogenesis.

Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a group of three conditions in which tumors grow in the nervous system. The three types are neurofibromatosis type I (NF1), neurofibromatosis type II (NF2), and schwannomatosis. The cause is a genetic mutation in certain oncogenes. These can be inherited from a person's parents, or in about half of cases spontaneously occur during early development. [1] Different mutations result in the three types of NF. [4] Neurofibromatoses arise from the supporting cells of the nervous system rather than the neurons themselves.

A cricothyrotomy is an incision made through the skin and cricothyroid membrane to establish a patent airway during certain life-threatening situations, such as

airway obstruction by a foreign body, angioedema, or massive facial trauma. Cricothyrotomy is nearly always performed as a last resort in cases where orotracheal and nasotracheal intubation are impossible or contraindicated. Cricothyrotomy is easier and quicker to perform than tracheotomy, does not require manipulation of the cervical spine, and is associated with fewer complications.

However, while cricothyrotomy may be life-saving in extreme circumstances, this technique is only intended to be a temporizing measure until a definitive airway can be established.

incrediblesurgery What is this clinical sign?

What does it mean? This is pitting edema, which occurs as a result of fluid extravasation from the body's vessels. When fluid pressure rises in blood vessels, fluid is pushed out of the vessels and into the tissues, which gives patients the fluid overload appearance we see here. Clinically, this is a sign of heart failure.

Manual removal of Ascaris Lumbricoides directly from the Intestine. Ascaris lumbricoides are pink-white roundworms, the "large roundworm" of humans, growing to a length measure between 15 and 35 cm.

It is the most common parasitic worm in humans. The adult female worms have 25 million eggs and can deposit 200,000 ova daily.

Ascariasis is caused by ingesting those worm eggs. This can happen when hands or fingers that have contaminated dirt on them are put in the mouth, or by eating vegetables or fruits that have not been carefully peeled, washed, or cooked. People with ascariasis often show no symptoms. If symptoms occur they can be light. Symptoms include abdominal discomfort or pain. Heavy infections can block the intestines and slow growth in children. Other symptoms such as cough are due to migration of the worms through the body. Ascariasis is treatable with medication prescribed by your healthcare provider.
