During Session 3 of the Foundation Day celebration held on February 17, 2026, at Drishtipunj Eye Hospital, Patna, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Vijay Kumar Sinha, joined us as the Chief Guest.
On this occasion, he inaugurated the Alcon Unity VCS–VLT (Vitreoretinal Cataract System with Vitreoretinal Laser Technology) for Retina and Cataract surgery. With this installation, Drishtipunj has become the first eye hospital in North India and the second in India to offer this advanced, world-class technology for Retina and Cataract surgery.
In his address, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri VIJAY KUMAR SINHA congratulated our Directors, Dr. Satya Prakash Tiwary and Dr. Bandana Tiwary, for bringing the latest global eye care technology to Patna and extended his best wishes.
The programme was also graced by State Advocate General Shri P. K. Shahi and Former National President of the Indian Medical Association, Dr. Sahajanand Prasad Singh, along with several senior doctors and other distinguished guests.

During Session 2 of the Foundation Day celebration (February 17, 2026) at Drishtipunj Eye Hospital, Patna, Hon’ble Minister of Bihar, Shri Vijay Kumar Choudhary, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and inaugurated the Alcon Unity Vitreoretinal Cataract System (VCS) with Vitreoretinal Laser Technology (VLT), marking a major advancement in eye surgery services.
Our Director Dr. Satya Prakash Tiwary (Well-known Retina Surgeon) briefed the Hon’ble Minister about the key features and clinical advantages of this state-of-the-art system.

Dr Satya Prakash Tiwary is a renowned Vitreo-Retina surgeon with experience of more than 10 years in field of Retina and eye care. He did his MBBS from prestigious Patna medical college (PMCH) with Gold Medal. After that he did MS in ophthalmology from GSVM medical college Kanpur. He was trained in filed of Retina from Aravind Eye Hospital, Pondicherry. From year 2013 he is serving in the field of retina in Patna and Bihar.
He is the pioneer of many new treatment facilities of retinal disorders in Bihar including Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP).
Dr Bandana Tiwary
Dr Bandana Tiwary is a graduate (MBBS) form JLNMC, Wardha, Maharshtra. After doing her MS in ophthalmology, She joined RIO, IGIMS, Patna as registrar. She was trained in doing high quality , high volume cataract surgery (Phacoemulsification) and Keratoplasty (Cornea transplantation) . Her area of interest is phaco surgery and cornea transplantation.
