ക്ലിനിക്കിൽ എത്തുന്ന ചെറുപ്പക്കാരിൽ മുടികൊഴിച്ചിലാണ് പ്രധാന പരാതിയായി പറയാറുള്ളത്. പലപ്പോഴും അതിൽ പകുതിയിലധികം പേർക്കും കാര്യമായ പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങൾ ഒന്നും ഉണ്ടാവാറില്ല. ഒന്നോ രണ്ടോ മുടിയിഴകൾ പൊഴിഞ്ഞാൽ പേടിച്ചെത്തുന്നവരും, ശരിയായ പോഷകാഹാരക്കുറവ് മൂലമുള്ള പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങളുമാണ് കൂടുതലും. അങ്ങനെയുള്ളവരെ കൗൺസിലിംഗ് നൽകി കാര്യങ്ങൾ പറഞ്ഞ് മനസ്സിലാക്കി വിടുകയാണ് പതിവ്. ചിലർക്ക് മാത്രം മരുന്നുകൾ ആവശ്യമായി വരും.

എന്നാൽ ഈ കേസ് അങ്ങനെയൊന്നുമായിരുന്നില്ല. കടുത്ത താരനും മുടികൊഴിച്ചിലുമായിട്ടാണ് കൺസൾട്ടേഷന് എത്തിയത്. തലയോട്ടിയിൽ കട്ടപിടിച്ച താരൻ, അതികഠിനമായ ചൊറിച്ചിൽ, മുടി കൊഴിച്ചിൽ, ചൊറിഞ്ഞു കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ ചെറിയരീതിയിൽ ബ്ലീഡിങ്ങും വേദനയും. പരിശോധനയിൽ അത് സെബോറിക് ഡെർമാറ്റിറ്റിസ് (Seborrhoeic Dermatitis) ആണെന്ന് മനസ്സിലായി.

കഴിഞ്ഞ കുറച്ചുകാലമായി ഈ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുകൾ ഇവരെ അലട്ടുന്നുണ്ട്. അതിനോടൊപ്പം ആവശ്യത്തിൽ കൂടുതലുള്ള മാനസിക സമ്മർദ്ദങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. പ്രണയിച്ച് വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചപ്പോൾ വീട്ടുകാർ എതിരായി, ബി.ടെക് കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടും ഒരു ജോലിയും കണ്ടെത്താൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല, അതിനിടയിൽ ഒരു കുഞ്ഞും ജനിച്ചു—ഇങ്ങനെ എല്ലാം കൂടെ ആകെ മാനസികമായി തളർന്നിരിക്കുന്ന അവസ്ഥ. കാര്യങ്ങൾ ചോദിച്ച് തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ തന്നെ കണ്ണുകൾ നിറഞ്ഞൊഴുകാൻ തുടങ്ങി.

ഇവരുടെ ശാരീരികവും മാനസികവുമായ അവസ്ഥകൾ പൂർണ്ണമായി കണക്കിലെടുത്തുകൊണ്ട് വേണ്ട മരുന്ന് നൽകി. ഒരാഴ്ച കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ഉള്ള മാറ്റമാണ് അവസാനത്തെ ചിത്രത്തിൽ. ആദ്യത്തെ രണ്ടെണ്ണം മരുന്ന് തുടങ്ങുന്നതിന് മുൻപുള്ളതാണ്.

ഒരാഴ്ചത്തെ ചികിത്സ കൊണ്ട് നല്ല മാറ്റം കാണുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും, സെബോറിക് ഡെർമാറ്റിറ്റിസ് പോലുള്ള ദീർഘകാല രോഗങ്ങൾ പൂർണ്ണമായി ഭേദമാക്കുന്നതിനും രോഗം വീണ്ടും വരാതിരിക്കുന്നതിനും തുടർചികിത്സ അത്യാവശ്യമാണ്.
