Kaviraj Pandit Amarnath Dogra, Vaidya Vachaspati

Chakitsik Guru Kaviraj Pt. Amarnath Dogra, Vaidya Vachaspati, Fellow of National Academy of Ayurveda. Reputed Ayurvedist, an eye specialist of Ayurveda – is a rare personality in the medical profession.

Birth:
Born on 3rd September, 1916 at Bara Pind Lohatian, Tehsil Shakergarh District Gurdaspur (now in Pakistan).
Education: -
He was a graduate in Ayurveda from Dayananda Ayurvedic College, Lahore which was a pioneer Ayurvedic Institute of East Punjab (now in Pakistan). After getting Diploma of Kaviraj he obtained the Degree of Vaiday Vachaspati (which was the highest qualification in Ayurveda at that time) in the year 1933. He was a prominent student of Sh. Surinder Mohan, Principal of Dyananda Ayurvedic College, Lahore and a close associate of eminent Ayurvedists, Pandit Hardyal ji Sharma, Shri Murli Dhar Shastri, Pandit Shiv Sharma, Shri Gaurilal ji Channana, and Padam Shree Vaidya Brihspati Dev ji Triguna (Physician of President of India).

Career:-

He started his career as practitioner in Ayurveda in Krishan Nagar, Lahore and specialized in the field of treatment of eyes. He also worked as Pharmacy incharge of Mool Chand Khraitiram Trust Hospital at Lahore.

After partition he started his own Eye hospital under the name and style of Dogra Ayurvedic Eye Hospital, Tanda Chowk, near Mai Hiran Gate, Jalandhar in the year 1947. He has an excellent record of curing every type of eye diseases and has cured persons who were otherwise advised of suffering from uncureable diseases.
