Launch of “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan”

On 17th Sept 2025, Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the nationwide health campaign Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan during 8th Poshan Maah, jointly led by MoHFW & MoWCD.

At JIPMER, Puducherry, the campaign was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri N. Rangasamy, in the presence of dignitaries and beneficiaries.

JIPMER, Puducherry in collaboration with the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Puducherry & Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) proudly organizes a Women’s Health Mela under the initiative:
“Healthy Women – Strong Family Campaign (Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan)” 💪

Awareness Program on World Su***de Prevention Day

The Departments of Community Medicine & Psychiatry, along with Academic Section and Student Affairs, organized an awareness program at JIPMER Karaikal on 10th September 2025.

✅ 85 participants, including MBBS students, faculty & staff
✅ Interactive sessions on myths, coping strategies & wellbeing
✅ Pre- & post-test showed improved mental health literacy

The program highlighted the importance of timely help-seeking, compassion, empathy, and peer support in su***de prevention. Together, we can build a healthier, more supportive community. 💙

Hands-Only CPR Training for Students!

JIPMER’s Department of Emergency Medicine & Trauma, in collaboration with Pondicherry University, successfully trained 200 newly admitted B.Tech students in Hands-Only CPR as part of their orientation program.

Through live demonstrations and hands-on practice, students gained vital life-saving skills that can make a real difference in emergencies.

🚨 Tsunami Mock Drill at JIPMER, Puducherry 🚨

As part of the disaster preparedness initiative of the Government of Puducherry and the recommendations of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), JIPMER successfully conducted a Tsunami Mock Drill on 11 September 2025.

🕘 08:00 am – 11:00 am
📍 JIPMER Campus, Puducherry

The exercise focused on:
✅ Institutional readiness & inter-agency coordination
✅ Emergency triage & casualty management protocols
✅ Mass evacuation & rescue procedures
✅ Ambulance & medical response systems

👏 The drill was coordinated by the Department of Emergency Medicine with active support from Nursing, Security, Fire Services, Physical Education, and other departments.
🎓 Eighty nursing students participated as simulated patients.

💬 Director Dr. Vir Singh Negi emphasized:
“Disaster preparedness is essential for a safer, stronger, and more resilient community. This mock drill reinforces our commitment to safeguarding lives and ensuring our teams are trained to respond effectively during emergencies.”

JIPMER celebrated World Physiotherapy Day on 8th September 2025 with the theme “Healthy Ageing – Preventing Falls and Frailty.”

✅ Release of informative video on Exercises for the Elderly (to be screened at JIPMER’s urban & rural health centers)
✅ Distribution of multilingual pamphlets (Tamil, English & Hindi) on Healthy Ageing & Physical Activity
✅ Community outreach & awareness programs with exercise demonstrations
✅ Posters displayed at Physiotherapy OPD

The event highlighted the vital role of physiotherapy in promoting healthy ageing, especially for the elderly.
