Putty Stent Technique

Traumatic injuries to upper permanent anterior teeth are more common in children in the age group of 6 -12 years , especially boys.
As a pediatric dentist, the aesthetic management of traumatized anterior permanent teeth involves a great zeal of perfection. Often, one of the struggles is the ability to reproduce the anatomy of the loss tooth structure.
The following picture depicts the aesthetic management of traumatized permanent anterior teeth using a new technique called "putty stent technique".
This technique is a predictable, straightforward one that blend in naturally to the surrounding tooth structure, giving a very aesthetic and natural look to the tooth structure
The patient reported to P**oplanet Peditatric Dental Center as an emergency with the right upper incisor fractured with exposure of the nerves.
Direct pulp capping was performed with local anaesthesia under isolation and alginate impression was recorded and poured with fast set stone.
An indirect wax pattern was fabricated and putty impression was taken. Once set, the putty impression was removed from the cast and the facial surface was trimmed and a lingual putty stent was prepared over which the tooth colored restorative were layered and blended to give a pleasing, natural glossy appearance .
