👃 Struggling to Breathe? Understanding Turbinate Hypertrophy
Turbinate hypertrophy, or enlarged turbinates, is a common condition that can make breathing a daily struggle.
Inside your nose, you have three sets of scroll-shaped structures called turbinates. They are responsible for warming, filtering, and humidifying the air you breathe. When the tissue covering these structures swells up due to chronic inflammation (often from allergies, infections, or environmental irritants), it blocks your nasal passages.
Common Symptoms Include:
• Chronic nasal congestion or stuffiness
• Difficulty breathing through the nose
• Loud breathing or snoring
• A reduced sense of smell
