It is with deep sorrow we learnt that Comrade Nallakannu, is no more with us. A relentless advocate for the rights of the working class, he began his political struggle at the age of 11, against the british rule and continued to fight for the political rights of the depressed people in independent india. His unwavering commitment to the ideals of equality, justice, and solidarity has left an indelible mark on the political and social landscape and he remains a beacon to the younger generation of integrity in political life. It is only his fragile body that has left us, his enduring soul shall remain to guide us in our way forward. Let's cherish his memory and strive to be worthy of him

At present, nearly 80% of the allotted mental health funds are being directed to NIMHANS, while the remaining 20% is shared among all other programs. With the proposal of NIMHANS-2, there is a strong possibility that almost the entire mental health budget will again be concentrated in a single institution.

While NIMHANS plays an important national role, mental health care cannot be institution-centric alone. There is an urgent need to increase allocations for community-based mental health interventions and to integrate mental health services into general health care
