Five Steps to Understand Your Emotions
Most people aren't overwhelmed because they feel too much.
They're overwhelmed because they don't know what they're feeling.
1. *PAUSE*
Take a breath. Slow down before reacting.
2. *NOTICE*
What is your body telling you? Tight chest? Heavy shoulders?
Racing thoughts?
3. *NAME IT*
Are you sad, angry, anxious, lonely, hurt, or overwhelmed?
4. *FIND THE TRIGGER*
What happened just before this feeling showed up?
5. *BE KIND TO YOURSELF*
Every emotion has a message. Respond with compassion, not judgment.
Emotional awareness helps you:
- Regulate your nervous system
- Communicate more clearly
- Set healthier boundaries
- Break unhealthy patterns
