Have you been diagnosed with low hemoglobin after a blood test? Many people believe that eating beetroot, dates, or jaggery can fix every case of anemia. But the truth is not all anemia is the same.
In this video, Dr. Sweta Lunkad, Hematologist from Pune, explains why identifying the type and cause of anemia is extremely important before starting treatment.
Low hemoglobin can happen for different reasons. Sometimes the body cannot produce enough blood due to iron, Vitamin B12, or bone marrow problems. In other cases, the red blood cells may be breaking down early, which happens in conditions like thalassemia, sickle cell disease, or autoimmune hemolytic anemia.
Another common cause is chronic blood loss, such as heavy menstrual bleeding, piles (hemorrhoids), or internal bleeding. In rare situations, persistent anemia may also indicate serious conditions like colon cancer or blood cancers.
That’s why it’s important not to ignore low hemoglobin and not rely only on home remedies. Proper blood tests and medical evaluation help identify the exact cause so the right treatment can begin at the right time.
If your hemoglobin is low, consult a specialist and get properly investigated.
