RITUCHARYA- Rainy season
Beautiful rainy season is here with greenery all around us. But, it brings along many diseases due to reduced agni (digestive fire) and increased vaata.
What is Ritucharya?
Ayurveda has guided Ritucharyas ie do's & don'ts about lifestyles
for each season.
Diseases commonly seen in rainy season:
Lack of appetite Bloating Indigestion
Body ache, joint pain Cough/cold Breathlessness
Diarrhoea Skin/ hair disorders Fungal infections
etc.
Let's consider Do's & dont's of disorders of digestive system.
DO's:
1) Have freshly cooked warm food.
2) Reduce a little portion of food from each meal (Langhan)
3) Have early and light dinner like dal chawal, khichdi, soups etc.
4) Include ginger, garlic, jeera powder, black pepper, ajwain, saunf,
flax seeds, hing, black salt, cinnamon & curry leaves in your
cooking.
5) Try to eat creeper veggies like bottle gourd, ridge gourd, snake
gourd, pumpkin etc.
6) If possible, dry roast the grains before grinding.
7) Drink buttermilk (with blacksalt/ jeera powder) post meals.
8) Drink warm lemon water in between.
9) Try to drink lukewarm water to reduce bloating.
10) Do light exercises like yoga & pranayam.
DONT's:
1) Do not overeat
2) Avoid stale, oily, spicy food.
3) Avoid cold foods like ice cream.
4) Avoid foods like besan, chowli, matki, rajma, chole etc.
5) Avoid bakery products.
6) Avoid non veg foods.
7) Avoid green leafy veggies.
8) Avoid outside food.
9) Avoid sleeping in the afternoon.
