Osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis is a disease in which bone weakening increases the risk of Fracture. Osteoporosis is commonly seen in elderly patients. Osteoporosis is also common after menopause due to lower levels of estrogen. Osterporosis is due to decreased levels of Vitamin D3, Calcium which leads to decrease Bone density which makes the bone weak and more prone for fractures. Treatment usually is with diet modifications and adding calcium, Vit.D3, Bisphosphonates supplements to the diet.

Sprained Ankle

Sprained Ankle Cause:
Twist while Walking or exercising on an uneven surface,
Falling down,
During sports activities.

Symptoms :-
Pain
Swelling
Bruising
Difficulty in walking
Instability of the ankle may occur when there has been complete tearing of the ligament.

Treatment :-
Rest
Immobilization with Plaster.
In complete tear MRI and may require Surgery.

What is Fracture-A fracture is a break in a bone.
About Fractures-
If the broken bone punctures the skin, it is called an open or compound fracture.
Fractures commonly happen because of car accidents, falls, or sports injuries (Trauma). Other causes of fractures are low bone density and osteoporosis, which cause weakening of the bones. Overuse can cause stress fractures, which are very small cracks in the bone.

Symptoms of a fracture are
Intense pain
Deformity - the limb looks out of place
Swelling, bruising, or tenderness around the injury
Numbness and tingling
Problems moving a limb.

What to do in case of trauma or fracture
Get an X-ray done.
followed by cast/splint if required, followed by in displaced fractures Surgery.
