Number of Hypertensive cases are rising high and are often undiagnosed and this is because of frequent consumption of packaged and canned foods which are very high in sodium content..

Replacing to low sodium salt with Himalayan salt or pink salt is not an option for people with diabetes, Cardiovascular diseases, kidney disease because it can lead to increase in potassium in the blood and harm kidneys

So it is better to limit the salt intake in cooked foods and avoid using table salt..

Use alternative for salt like lemon, kokum, spices, herbs, vinegar..

Scurvy is a disease that results from a vitamin C deficiency. It can lead to anemia, exhaustion, spontaneous bleeding, limb pain, swelling, and sometimes ulceration of the gums and loss of teeth.

Scurvy has been known since ancient Greek and Egyptian times.

Food sources

Foods that contain vitamin C include:

fruits, such as oranges, lemons, strawberries, blackberries, guava, kiwi fruit, and papaya

vegetables, especially Tomatoes , carrots, bell peppers, broccoli, potatoes, cabbage, and spinach.

A healthy quick breakfast or even a one pot meal option... Just add good portion of vegetables and few peanuts, it tastes yum... Also added a dash of lemon juice while eating it, to increase iron availability....

There is a growing body of evidence that mental health and good nutrition are closely interlinked. Food has a direct link with being happy and mentally strong.

One thing that is very clear is that highly processed food, refined sugary food, basically food that is deficient in nutrients has a detrimental effect on our health. With teenagers, unhealthy eating from early life can lead to deficiencies that are associated with mental health. These deficiencies may be the cause, or a teenager going through mental trauma may resort to poor food choices.

Mindful Eating

Paying attention to how you feel when you eat, and what you eat, is one of the first steps in making sure you’re getting well-balanced meals and snacks. Since many of us don’t pay close attention to our eating habits, nutritionists recommend keeping a food journal. Documenting what, where and when you eat is a great way to gain insight into your patterns.

If you find you overeat when stressed, it may be helpful to stop what you’re doing when the urge to eat arises, and to write down your feelings. By doing this, you may discover what’s really bothering you. If you undereat, it may help to schedule five or six smaller meals instead of three large ones.

Insulin resistance is when cells in your muscles, fat, and liver don’t respond well to insulin and can’t use glucose from your blood for energy. To make up for it, your pancreas makes more insulin. Over time, your  blood sugar levels go up.
Insulin resistance syndrome includes a group of problems like obesity, high blood pressure , high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes.

Some signs of insulin resistance include:

A waistline over 40 inches in men and 35 inches in women

Blood pressure readings of 130/80 or higher

A fasting glucose level over 100 mg/dL

A fasting triglyceride level over 150 mg/dL

A HDL cholesterol  level under 40 mg/dL in men and 50 mg/dL in women
